Under this proposal, if a minor child says she was born in the wrong body and wants to talk to a nurse to find out how to have her breasts removed, school policy could interfere. <\/p>\n<p>School districts such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegounified.org\/departments\/sexual_health_education\/studentsupport\/sexual_health_clinics_and_services\/planned_parenthood\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">San Diego Unified<\/a> have information on their website, including phone numbers and addresses, for the Planned Parenthood locations in the area. These abortion facilities offer what they wrongly call\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/health-center\/california\/san-diego\/92105\/city-heights-health-center-3075-90110\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">gender-affirming care<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0The facilities provide puberty blockers and wrong-sex hormones, often prescribed for off-label uses, that can have irreversible effects on a child\u2019s body. The surgeries that sometimes follow will destroy a child\u2019s sexual organs.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal is a shocking attack on U.S. Supreme Court precedent and local school policies. The high court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/model-legislation\/model-school-board-policy-parental-rights-education-and-safety-privacy-and-respect\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">has held<\/a> that individuals have a fundamental right to \u201cmarry, establish a home and bring up children\u201d and that children are unable to make \u201csound judgments\u201d about key decisions surrounding medical care.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, some school districts in California decided it is best in their communities for educators to include parents in discussions with their children about sex and what are known as \u201cgender dysphoric\u201d symptoms. Policies that require parental involvement would be illegal under the new law.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-243fb25d1358a10bfdf3ffb621341198 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-243fb25d1358a10bfdf3ffb621341198\"><\/div>\n<p>If adults allow children to pursue transgender interventions that alter their biology, the effects can be dramatic even in the short term \u2014 but we don\u2019t have reliable evidence on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/study-suggests-pregnant-women-vaccinated-for-covid-19-may-pass-on-antibodies-to-infants\/\" title=\"Study Suggests Pregnant Women Vaccinated For COVID-19 May Pass On Antibodies To Infants\">long-term effects<\/a>. For these reasons and more, doctors at the National Health Service in England recently decided they <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/transgender-puberty-blockers-england-uk-5ed81979363470028053423c0a2fa263\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">will not<\/a> prescribe hormone-altering drugs or other transgender interventions to children under the age of 16.<\/p>\n<p>The new approach follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/cass.independent-review.uk\/home\/publications\/final-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crucial report<\/a>. Researchers behind what is called \u201cThe Cass Report\u201d found there is \u201cnot a reliable evidence base\u201d to make \u201cinformed choices\u201d when it comes to transgender-identifying children and medicine. \u201cFor the majority of young people, a medical pathway may not be the best way to manage their gender-related distress,\u201d researchers wrote.<\/p>\n<p>But in California, parents will not have the chance to help their own children with these decisions.<\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s proposal comes at an auspicious time: just days before the state Senate sent the proposal back to the assembly for confirmation, two courts ruled against the Biden administration\u2019s attempt to redefine \u201csex\u201d to mean \u201csexual orientation and gender identity\u201d in federal law. If the administration\u2019s rule change succeeds, it would allow boys to participate in girls\u2019 sports and use girls\u2019 bathrooms and locker rooms, both highly unpopular policies, according to surveys.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-85d0902c883e33fad005d7bad164c757 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-85d0902c883e33fad005d7bad164c757\"><\/div>\n<p>The changes are not only unpopular but also unsafe. It gives individuals with bad intentions easier access to the private spaces of women and girls. Twelve-year-old girls would find themselves exposed to naked teenage males. There are currently more than a half-dozen lawsuits fighting against the rule change.<\/p>\n<p>California lawmakers may be able to slip their \u201cgender secrecy agenda\u201d into state law, but given the response to the Biden administration\u2019s attempted Title IX rule change, legal challenges are sure to follow. The <a href=\"https:\/\/californiapolicycenter.org\/california-lawmakers-sacrifice-education-for-politics-with-ab-1955\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">California Policy Center<\/a> reports that at least two school districts have settled with parents and teachers who opposed transgender secrecy.  <\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s law simultaneously puts children at risk, limits teacher freedom, and divides families.
