This law introduces the \u2062Giving All True Opportunity to \u200dRise Program, which establishes education savings accounts to help low-income families\u2064 afford private schooling for their children starting next year. Governor Landry highlighted that this reform is aimed at improving the education system,\u200b strengthening the state&#8217;s economy, and prioritizing the \u200dneeds of children, aligning with similar efforts in \u2063neighboring southern states.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Gov. Jeff Landry (R-LA) signed universal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>school<\/a> choice into law on Wednesday, making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Louisiana<\/a> the 11th state in the union to allow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/public-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>education<\/a> funding to follow students instead of being pumped into schools.<\/p>\n<p>Landry signed the Giving All True Opportunity to Rise Program into law, which will create education savings accounts, the funds from which can be used to send children to private school, for low-income families starting next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we fulfilled our promise to bring drastic reform to our education system and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/don-jr-endorses-la-attorney-general-jeff-landry-for-gov\/\" title=\"Don Jr. endorses LA. Our historic Dream Big Package puts the focus back on our kids, and allows Louisiana to follow in the footsteps of our neighbors in the South.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">education savings account<\/a> allows parents to use public funds on education-related expenses, including tuition for private schools or instructional materials for homeschooling.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/LA\/text\/SB313\/id\/3005562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>bill<\/a> differs from some school choice plans in that it will be phased in over time, with the lowest-income Pelican State residents, those who report a total income 250% below the federal poverty line, receiving the first benefits. However, the benefits will expand to all Louisiana residents over time.<\/p>\n<p>Six state House Democrats broke with their party to support the measure in April, and it sailed through the state House 71-32. It passed the Senate 23-14 in May.<\/p>\n<p>Another bill signed into law Wednesday requires Louisiana public schools to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3052186\/louisiana-becomes-first-state-to-require-ten-commandments-be-displayed-in-classrooms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"display the Ten Commandments\">display the Ten Commandments<\/a> in all classrooms. As the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3037287\/louisiana-new-grading-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reported<\/a>, the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved a new school grading plan focused on holding K-12 schools accountable for student results.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the new measures make it more difficult to achieve high performance reviews.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
