Young<\/a>, director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/omb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">White House Office of Management and Budget<\/a> (OMB), U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, takes aim at an Executive Office memo \u201cstrongly\u201d encouraging federal agencies to erect signs declaring costly public infrastructure projects around the country have been funded by President Joe Biden. Forget the fact that American taxpayers will fork over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/inflation-reduction-act-subsidies-cost-goldman-sachs-report-5623cd29\">trillions<\/a> of dollars \u2014 in present and future treasure \u2014 to fund the ill-named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bts.gov\/data-spotlight\/increases-highway-construction-costs-could-reduce-bil-funding-allocated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act<\/a> (aka the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law), the ironically named <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/inflation-reduction-act-subsidies-cost-goldman-sachs-report-5623cd29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inflation Reduction Act<\/a>, and other debt-racking spending initiatives in which boondoggles abound. <\/p>\n<div data-wp-interactive=\"core\/file\" class=\"wp-block-file\"><object data-wp-bind--hidden=\"!state.hasPdfPreview\" class=\"wp-block-file__embed\" data=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Ernst-Letter-to-OMB-on-Signage.pdf\" type=\"application\/pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px\" aria-label=\"Embed of Ernst-Letter-to-OMB-on-Signage.\"><\/object><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-8c16b53f-2603-49a2-a751-36304237af41\" href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Ernst-Letter-to-OMB-on-Signage.pdf\">Ernst-Letter-to-OMB-on-Signage<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Ernst-Letter-to-OMB-on-Signage.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-8c16b53f-2603-49a2-a751-36304237af41\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n<p>As Ernst notes in her letter, a February 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfo.gov\/assets\/files\/CA-23-06_Enhancing%20Transparency%20Through%20Use%20of%20the%20Investing%20in%20America%20Emblem%20on%20Signs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Controller Alert<\/a> suggests strategies, \u201cincluding the use of public signage, to increase the transparency of projects funded in whole or in part\u201d by the spending packages. The idea, according to the memo, is to make taxpayers aware just how effective \u201cGovernment efforts to invest in our Nation\u2019s infrastructure and competitiveness\u201d have been. <\/p>\n<p>And who\u2019s paying for this awareness campaign? Why, taxpayers, it appears. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018BIL is a BFD\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>But this is no mere public service announcement. The signs are taxpayer-funded campaign ads for Biden\u2019s re-election, Ernst says. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0260a581d160fcc1d57204a769af75a0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0260a581d160fcc1d57204a769af75a0\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201c[A]t the White House\u2019s direction, the Department of Transportation, Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and other agencies are treating taxpayer money like campaign donations, purchasing and placing thousands of campaign signs along roadsides and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ernst-questions-biden-campaign-signs-bought-with-taxpayer-money\/\" title=\"Ernst questions taxpayer-funded Biden campaign signs\">public works sites<\/a>,\u201d the Iowa Republican tells OMB. <\/p>\n<p>An Environmental Protection Agency directive makes the demand clear, informing recipients of the federal funds that they \u201cmust place a sign at construction sites that display the Investing in America emblem and identify the project as a \u2018project funded by President Biden\u2019s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law\u2019 or \u2018project funded by President Biden\u2019s Inflation Reduction Act.\u2019 The sign must be in an easily visible location that can be directly linked to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/major-rise-in-homeschooling-in-england-over-philosophical-and-health-reasons\/\" title=\"Major Rise in Homeschooling in England Over 'Philosophical' and Health Reasons\">work taking place<\/a> and must be maintained in good condition throughout the construction period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At least \u201cthroughout the construction period\u201d? More like throughout the campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Second Dude <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/administration\/douglas-emhoff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Douglas Emhoff<\/a> has taken to promoting the promotion, gloating about the signs on his official X account. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-67122e8c256053de5073f65e43faa930 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-67122e8c256053de5073f65e43faa930\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cDuring my travels across the country, I keep running into these signs. Seems like BIL [Bipartisan Infrastructure Law] is a BFD,\u201d wrote the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris in homage to Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/3259815-biden-pokes-fun-at-2010-bfd-hot-mic-moment-during-obama-visit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">obscene expression<\/a> of joy over Obamacare. <\/p>\n<p>But Ernst spoils the party, asking on Emhoff\u2019s post, \u201cHow much did these Biden campaign signs cost American taxpayers?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"xgWZ7\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">How much did these Biden campaign signs cost American taxpayers? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iyVuiw3l9b\">https:\/\/t.co\/iyVuiw3l9b<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Joni Ernst (@SenJoniErnst) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenJoniErnst\/status\/1802701461308014749?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 17, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Misusing Government Resources\u2019 <\/h2>\n<p>Ernst scolds the administration, admonishing that \u201ccampaign signs are not infrastructure\u201d and that they detract from, not add to, U.S. highways and byways. Beyond \u201cmisusing official government resources for political purposes, these roadside eyesores violate the spirit of the Highway Beautification Act, which restricts billboards and limits other posts along federal highways to directional signs or notices of natural wonders and scenic or historical attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While beauty may well be in the eye of the beholder, there\u2019s nothing scenic about signs promoting Biden\u2019s role in pushing trillions of dollars of debt on the next generation of Americans \u2014 and crippling inflation on today\u2019s consumers \u2014 for perceived political gains. <\/p>\n<p>But you won\u2019t find the cost of the projects \u2014 or the signs \u2014 on the signs, Ernst notes. <\/p>\n<p>The senator does suggest a more fact-based display. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy is there no billboard next to the seven electric vehicle charging stations built over the past two years boasting that they were bought by the Biden administration with <strong>$7.5 billion<\/strong>?\u201d\u00a0Ernst asks in the letter to OMB (emphasis original). \u201cSuch a sign could proudly declare, \u2018This billion dollar boondoggle brought to you by President Biden!\u2019 Now, that would give everyone, no matter what kind of vehicle they drive, a real charge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She notes the tax dollar-sucking San Francisco rail extension project that \u201cthe Biden administration has committed at least $3.4 billion to build,\u201d just a portion of the $8.3 billion (and climbing) cost of the 1.3-mile infrastructure project. Also funded by Biden \u2014 at least according to his promotional signs \u2014 the project received Ernst\u2019s dubious <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/12\/nancy-pelosis-subway-boondoggle-just-one-of-governments-countless-spending-secrets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Squeal Award<\/a> for boondoggle. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is itching for credit, too.\u00a0We\u2019ll see if she ends up on the sign. <\/p>\n<p>While the Biden administration lauds the president in signs, his infrastructure failures are lining up. As the Washington Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2024\/jun\/18\/bidens-425-billion-rural-high-speed-internet-plan-\/\">reported<\/a> this week, rural homes and businesses still are waiting to be connected to high-speed internet through a $42.5 billion modernization program. \u201c[N]ot a single home or business has been connected to new broadband networks nearly three years after President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biden<\/a> signed the funding into law, and no project will break ground until sometime next year,\u201d the publication reports.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Highway Robbery\u2019 <\/h2>\n<p>Ernst is giving her June 2024 Squeal Award to OMB \u201cfor playing politics with taxpayer money.\u201d In a press release, the Iowa senator says she\u2019s demanding a tally of the costs of the potentially \u201cthousands\u201d of campaign advertisements posing as government-spending promotional signs. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis highway robbery is enough to give taxpayers road rage!\u201d Ernst says. \u201cI am all for disclosing how tax dollars are being spent, but the Biden signs conveniently omit the price of the projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the letter to OMB, Ernst demands the Office of Management and Budget provide the total number of \u201cFunded by President Joe Biden\u201d signs, including billboards, placards, and other posters, that have been paid for by taxpayers. She wants to know whether anyone determined if these \u201ctaxpayer-funded campaign advertisements and billboards misuse official government resources for political campaign purposes.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>And, as she has pressed other federal agencies, Ernst wants to know if OMB has or will take actions to enact the law requiring the disclosure of the costs of federal projects. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More Bidenbucks?<\/h2>\n<p>That lack of transparency is at the core of Biden\u2019s big government racket. <\/p>\n<p>As Ernst notes in her letter, the Biden administration has thumbed its nose at transparency laws, some of which she authored. That includes the Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services, among other agencies, that have not implemented laws requiring the release of all costs associated with federal taxpayer-funded projects. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a common theme for a closed-government administration that is using taxpayer money to run a get-out-the-vote drive for Biden and fellow Democrats led by federal agencies and White House-approved liberal activist groups. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist has extensively <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Biden signed an executive order in March 2021 that pushes a federalized voter registration effort that appears to be heavily targeting traditionally left-leaning voters. It\u2019s known as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cBidenbucks,\u201d<\/a> a nod to \u201cZuckbucks\u201d and the hundreds of millions of dollars donated by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to leftist groups. The brunt of the 2020 safe elections grants went to liberal cities, particularly in swing states, and included targeted GOTV efforts. <\/p>\n<p>Despite repeated requests for information on the implementation of the executive order, including the criteria for the third-party groups, the Biden administration has either slow-walked or altogether stonewalled the release of documents. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFederal executive agencies, which have no business engaging in voter registration or mobilization efforts, as the EO directs, will surely exceed the scope of their authority under federal law,\u201d House Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/norman.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/letter-to-ag-garland-re-eo-14019-final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland. \u201cMoreover, in carrying out this EO, employees of these agencies will likely violate other laws such as the Hatch Act, designed to keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/christiana-kiefer-a-runaway-executive-branch-threatens-our-free-society\/\" title=\"Christiana Kiefer: A Runaway Executive Branch Threatens Our Free Society\">federal agencies led<\/a> by political appointees from engaging in political activities to benefit one political party over another.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/13\/bidenbucks-order-will-already-have-done-its-job-by-the-time-scotus-looks-at-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently said<\/a> it will not even consider a challenge to Bidenbucks until Sept. 30, far too late to stop the Biden-led federal government form interfering in November\u2019s election. <\/p>\n<p>Biden has turned the executive branch into a black hole of transparency and accountability. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther agencies and departments are continuing to ignore the law by hiding costs from taxpayers,\u201d Ernst said in the letter to OMB. \u201cIt\u2019s frustrating fighting government agencies to get them to comply with the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-58e9fd2c765b07b63e2f729e243695df fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-58e9fd2c765b07b63e2f729e243695df\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a letter to Shalanda D.
