This attack, executed with a drone boat and missiles, led to the vessel&#8217;s sinking\u2063 and the \u200cdeath of a civilian crew member. Shipping and maritime associations have expressed outrage\u2062 and \u200ccondemnation \u200cover these attacks which violate international principles like freedom of navigation. The incident is part\u2062 of a \u200ctroubling pattern, as other attacks and captivities involving\u200d seafarers have occurred recently. These associations are urging influential states to intervene and de-escalate the \u2062situation, highlighting the critical\u2063 need\u200b to protect seafarers whose work supports global supply \u200cchains. They implore the world\u200d to acknowledge\u200c the seafarers&#8217; contributions, \u200cespecially\u200d on the upcoming Day of The Seafarer. The statement is supported by various international maritime organizations, emphasizing the\u2063 urgent\u2063 need\u2062 for \u200dprotective actions against these unlawful attacks.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The international shipping industry is demanding action after Islamic terrorists backed by Iran sank another major vessel in the Red Sea in the last several days.<\/p>\n<p>The Houthi\u2019s attack last week on the M\/V Tutor \u2014 a Liberian flagged, Greek-owned and operated bulk cargo carrier \u2014 featured the use of an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) and missiles. The ship began to take on water immediately and eventually sank to the Red Sea\u2019s bottom several days later.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous shipping and maritime associations called for immediate action to be taken following the attack, which also resulted in the death of a civilian crew member.<\/p>\n<p>The joint statement said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>The shipping community is appalled and deeply saddened with the tragic news that, yet another seafarer seems certain to have been killed in a drone boat strike on Wednesday 12 June while on board the\u00a0MV Tutor\u00a0in the Red Sea. We utterly condemn these assaults which directly contravene the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our thoughts and condolences go to the family and loved ones of the seafarer who tragically lost their life. It is deplorable that innocent seafarers are being attacked while simply performing their jobs, vital jobs which keep the world warm, fed, and clothed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is the second fatal attack in which our seafarers have been caught in the crosshairs of geopolitical conflicts. Three seafarers tragically lost their lives when the\u00a0True Confidence\u00a0was attacked earlier this year. And we must not forget the crew members from the\u00a0Galaxy Leader\u00a0and\u00a0MSC Aries\u00a0who are still being held captive.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Furthermore, we strongly condemn the attack on the cargo ship\u00a0Verbena\u00a0on Thursday 13 June which left a seafarer severely injured by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/russian-navy-moves-16-warships-near-syria\/\" title=\"Russian Navy Moves 16 Warships Near Syria\">anti-ship cruise missiles<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This is an unacceptable situation, and these attacks must stop now. We call for States with influence in the region to safeguard our innocent seafarers and for the swift de-escalation of the situation in the Red Sea.
