Latimer has secured endorsements from influential\u2062 figures\u200d like Hillary Clinton and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-prepares-afghanistan-business-expo-to-unleash-talibans-market-potential\/\" title=\"China Prepares Afghanistan Business Expo to Unleash Taliban's 'Market Potential'\">significant financial backing<\/a> from organizations \u2062such as the \u200cAmerican Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).<\/p>\n<p>Bowman, a progressive Democrat, has attempted to leverage support from\u2064 fellow\u2063 progressive Democrats in \u2063the last stages of his campaign in response to Latimer&#8217;s\u2064 large campaign resources, including $14 million from \u200cAIPAC\u2019s \u200bsuper \u2062PAC.\u2062 He has\u200b also criticized the heavy \u200dfinancial influence in the election, particularly from \u2064AIPAC, suggesting that \u200btheir involvement is due to his outspoken activism on issues\u2064 like the situation in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the election drama, Bowman has been notably vocal and \u200dactive in international \u2062human rights issues, including efforts \u200dto address the\u2062 conflict\u200d in Gaza, which could also be influencing \u200dhis primary challenge. The\u2063 election&#8217;s outcome will\u2063 likely \u200dbe \u200cinfluenced by how effectively Bowman can\u2063 mobilize progressive support and counteract the significant resources backing Latimer.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jamaal-bowman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Jamaal Bowman\">Jamaal Bowman<\/a> (D-NY) is on the verge of losing his primary to a challenger as several factors work against the \u201cSquad\u201d Democrat\u2019s quest to remain in office.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman is at risk of being the first \u201cSquad\u201d Democrat to lose in his primary despite some efforts in the past that have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2602057\/rep-ilhan-omar-survives-challenge-from-pro-police-democrat-in-minnesota\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"nearly\">nearly<\/a> ousted members, such as one effort against Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Here are the three key reasons Bowman is on the brink of losing his seat to another Democrat next week.<\/p>\n<h2>Strong Democratic challenger<\/h2>\n<p>The New York congressman is facing a challenge from Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who has pitched himself as a centrist Democratic alternative to the progressive Bowman. Latimer is well known in much of the district and has received the backing of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and key pro-Israel group the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, among others.<\/p>\n<p>With Latimer\u2019s name and money to back him up, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/punchbowl.news\/article\/election-2024\/jamaal-bowman-george-latimer-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reported\">reported<\/a> $14 million from AIPAC\u2019s super PAC alone, Bowman is calling up several progressive Democrats to support him in the waning days of the primary campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman has also attacked Latimer and his backing by AIPAC by claiming during a debate that the group is \u201cspending more money in this primary than any PAC has ever spent in U.S. history. (AP Photo\/Nathan Howard)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Anti-Israel stances<\/h2>\n<p>Bowman has been one of the most vocal critics of Israel, which is in its ninth month of fighting against Hamas terrorists, since the war in Gaza began.<\/p>\n<p>He has been at protests calling for an immediate ceasefire, without conditions on the hostages held by Hamas, and has called reports from Israel of Hamas sexually assaulting Israeli women \u201cpropaganda,\u201d a comment he would later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/03\/26\/congress\/bowman-house-israel-october-7-sexual-assault-hamas-00148426\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"walk back\">walk back<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman\u2019s comments and stances have made him a top target to be ousted, as Israel is generally popular among most voters.<\/p>\n<h2>Bowman\u2019s antics in Congress<\/h2>\n<p>While Bowman\u2019s anti-Israel stances have taken the spotlight in recent months, another reason voters may elect to oust him, and something his opponent has pointed out, is Bowman\u2019s antics in Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Two incidents from Bowman\u2019s more than three years in Congress include a shouting match he had with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on the steps of the Capitol in May 2023 and when Bowman pulled a fire alarm as Congress was attempting to gather to vote on preventing a government shutdown in September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Latimer hit Bowman in a May debate on his antics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou need to talk to them as normal people.
