However, the same survey indicates\u200b that Governor Hochul herself is not as \u200bpopular, with low \u2063ratings in favorability and \u200djob approval among voters. The\u200c report highlights that voters are skeptical\u200d about Hochul&#8217;s \u200dcare \u2064for \u200dpeople like \u200bthem or her ability to provide decisive leadership. Kathy Hochul<\/a>\u2019s (D-NY) indefinite pause on congestion pricing, but they may not feel the same about the governor herself, according to a new poll.<\/p>\n<p>A Siena College Research Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/scri.siena.edu\/2024\/06\/20\/hochul-favorability-38-49-job-approval-44-50-ratings-lowest-ever-voters-hochul-doesnt-care-about-people-like-them-or-provide-decisive-leadership-small-pluralities-think-she-works-hard-a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a> found that 45% of registered voters in New York were on board with the pause in congestion pricing, while 23% said they opposed the governor\u2019s move. Earlier this month, Hochul <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/travel\/3028497\/hochul-congestion-pricing-ease-pressure-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>\u201cindefinitely paused\u201d <\/a>congestion pricing that was supposed to go into effect June 30 on those who drive below 60th Street in Manhattan. <\/p>\n<p>While almost half of New Yorkers are OK with the move, Hochul\u2019s approval ratings still dropped, as 38% of voters viewed her favorably and 49% viewed her unfavorably. This is a change from the 46% of those who viewed her unfavorably in May. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite strongly supporting Hochul\u2019s decision to put congestion pricing on hold, and even more strongly supporting the social media bill she championed, voters now give Hochul the lowest favorability and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-poll-finds-newsoms-job-approval-ratings-plunge-amid-looming-recall\/\" title=\"New Poll Finds Newsom\u2019s Job Approval Ratings Plunge Amid Looming Recall\">job approval ratings<\/a> she\u2019s had in nearly three years as Governor,\u201d Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg said.<\/p>\n<p>In the Democratic Party, however, Hochul\u2019s favorability increases to 56%. It\u2019s a good sign for the governor as she is up for reelection in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Her decision to pause congestion pricing was strongest in the New York suburbs, with 56% of respondents in favor and 18% against. New York City residents were more split on the matter, with 45% of those polled in favor and 35% not in favor. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-ccps-infiltration-with-tiktok-may-be-much-more-serious-than-americans-realize\/\" title=\"TikTok's CCP infiltration is a serious concern for Americans.\">move received pushback<\/a> from environmentalists and progressives in the state who see it as a step back from an effort to decrease air pollution.
