But former President Donald Trump\u2019s chances of winning the presidency in November are even better, roughly 69 percent, according to the odds respectable British weekly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/interactive\/us-2024-election\/prediction-model\/president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Economist<\/a> gave Wednesday to former President Donald Trump of being returned to the White House by voters on Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<p>And while Trump supporters can\u2019t afford to be complacent given the fanatical opposition among leftists and the undeniable bias of the establishment media, that should be \u201cdeeply worrying,\u201d as The Economist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/interactive\/us-2024-election\/prediction-model\/president\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">put it last week<\/a>, to President Joe Biden\u2019s backers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that just the wording of The\u00a0Economist report indicates an\u00a0undeniable pro-Biden bent.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, when it described changing American attitudes toward the Trump presidency, from 41 percent of those polled in 2021 calling Trump\u2019s time in office a success to 55 percent now, The Economist called it \u201crewriting history.\u201d A less inflammatory interpretation would be that Americans can now compare the country\u2019s condition in 2024 to what it was through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/shoppers-hit-the-stores-for-black-friday-sales\/\" title=\"Shoppers hit the stores for Black Friday sales\">pre-pandemic years<\/a> of the Trump presidency.<\/p>\n<p>The publication\u2019s forecast was based on polling results in the swing states that will determine the winner in the Electoral College.<\/p>\n<p>In Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, according to The Economist\u2019s polling analysis, Trump holds leads of 1 to 4 points. They\u2019re not huge leads, but they\u2019re leads and they could determine the winner of the election.<\/p>\n<p>The Economic acknowledged its conclusion is no \u201ccrystal ball\u201d \u2014 the same forecast had Democrat Hillary Clinton winning in 2016 \u2014 but it does pack some power.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2012 election, it gave then-President Barack Obama the same chance of winning as it\u2019s giving Trump now. Americans know how that turned out.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are Democrats desperate enough to physically harm Trump before the 2024 election?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Economist cited numerous potential weaknesses to explain Biden\u2019s dim outlook, all of them wearily familiar to American voters: Inflation, an erosion of income visible on a firsthand basis with every trip to the grocery store, is brutal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Biden would like the election to be about preserving democracy,\u201d The Economist noted. \u201cSwing voters seem to care more about the price of eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then there are the less tangible factors:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe war in Gaza, which splits Democrats and unites Republicans, has not helped Mr Biden,\u201d The Economist observed. \u201cLayered on top of all this has been some political ineptitude from his campaign. Where his team has tried to bribe voters, for example by forgiving student loans, it has paid off the wrong ones. College-educated Democrats are the party\u2019s most loyal constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The article left off one inarguably strong point in Trump\u2019s favor \u2014 the illegal immigration that has swamped the United States southern border since Biden took office and promptly overturned the measures Trump had put in place to keep the crisis under control.<\/p>\n<p>During the Trump presidency, those measures became a cudgel for progressives and the establishment media to attack Trump as a supposed racist. During the Biden years, the problem has gone far beyond the Southwest border, plaguing liberal bastions like New York City, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/encamped-immigrants-begin-overtaking-another-major-airport-need-dc-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-shows-illegal-immigrants-taken-sections-chicagos-ohare-international-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sanctuary-city-leader-begs-bribes-migrants-go-away-gets-single-spanish-word-reply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Denver<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Possibly just as important as Biden\u2019s evident failings, the weapon Democrats have been counting on against Trump \u2014 tagging him as a \u201cconvicted felon\u201d after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desantis-puts-rivalry-aside-delivers-fiery-message-trumps-guilty-verdict-kangaroo-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">widely disparaged<\/a> trial in Manhattan \u2014 hasn\u2019t paid off in the polling the way the anti-Trump left must have hoped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Trump is the first former president, and first front-line candidate, to have been convicted in a court. Yet rather than change their minds about him, Republican voters have changed their minds about the courts. The share who told YouGov, a pollster, that a convicted felon should be allowed to be president rose from 17% in April to 58% in June.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Economist emphasized, it\u2019s only June, the election is five months away, and \u201ca lot can change between now and November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Donald Trump is unlikely to change. The record of his administration isn\u2019t going to change. And besides a much-hyped executive order on immigration that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dont-fooled-bidens-new-executive-order-not-secure-border-really\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">actually very little change<\/a> at all, Biden has shown no interest in changing either.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans, conservatives and other Trump supporters cannot afford to be complacent, but judging by polling results and The Economist analysis, the chances of a Trump win at this point are two out of three.<\/p>\n<p>And for Team Trump, that\u2019s not bad at all.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
