Show That Introduces Massive Plot Hole and Pronouns<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/%20\"><span>Bryan Chai<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 19, 2024 at 8:52am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Just a day ago in a galaxy that\u2019s not far away at all\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Disney may have finally and truly killed the beloved \u201cStar Wars\u201d franchise, thanks to its disastrous new Disney+ series \u201cThe Acolyte.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The live-action \u201cStar Wars\u201d series explores events that take place about 100 years before 1999\u2019s \u201cStar Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace,\u201d in a period otherwise known as the \u201cHigh Republic Era.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(Think of it as a time of general peace and prosperity before the bad guys rose up.)<\/p>\n<p>While that unexplored bit of \u201cStar Wars\u201d history is rife with potential, the manner in which showrunner and former Harvey Weinstein associate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/disneys-new-star-wars-show-curious-creator-past-weinstein-connection\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leslye Headland<\/a> has steered the story has left quite a lot to be desired \u2014 and that\u2019s putting it mildly.<\/p>\n<p>But even with the introduction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-star-wars-no-good-bad-sets-jedi-order-oppressors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hamfisted moral ambiguity<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fans-furious-disneys-star-wars-officially-jumps-shark-lesbian-witches-conceiving-babies-new-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lesbian space witches<\/a> conceiving children, it wasn\u2019t until the fourth episode of \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d dropped on Monday that fans may be reaching a point of no return with the franchise.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of classic culture wars issues, nothing about the latest episode drew more condemnation than the introduction of pronouns in an <em>intergalactic <\/em>setting.<\/p>\n<p>You can see the brief mention of \u201che\u201d or \u201cthey\u201d drivel in the clip below:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Disney Star Wars pronouns<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Acolyte?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Acolyte<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/x8GnpnEUUw\">pic.twitter.com\/x8GnpnEUUw<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nerdrotic (@Nerdrotics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Nerdrotics\/status\/1803256540205301875?\">June 19, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>About halfway through the episode, titled \u201cDay,\u201d the main character, Osha \u2014 a black female Jedi portrayed by Amandla Stenberg \u2014 meets a new possible ally.<\/p>\n<p>Unsure of what gender to use for a (and I can\u2019t believe I have to type these words out) freaking space alien, Osha asks her companion, \u201cIs he \u2014 or they \u2014 with us?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all just the sort of shameless pandering that has ruined much of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/parental-warning-wokeism-spotted-plain-sight-transformers-show-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">modern media<\/a>, but that doesn\u2019t make it any less jarring to see.<\/p>\n<p>Exacerbating matters for Disney and Lucasfilm, even \u201cStar Wars\u201d fans who don\u2019t care a lick about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-media-has-entered-the-republicans-pounce-stage-of-critical-race-theory\/\" title=\"The Media Has Entered the \u2018Republicans Pounce\u2019 Stage Of Critical Race Theory\">culture war issues<\/a> had a major bone to pick with the episode.<\/p>\n<p>Without delving into too many asinine details or spoilers, whatever fans of \u201cStar Wars\u201d are left in 2024 are decidedly split about a surprise cameo in the most recent episode of \u201cThe Acolyte.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not only does that cameo not make chronological sense \u2014 if this show does, in fact, take place 100 years before \u201cPhantom Menace,\u201d it would predate this character\u2019s birth by about 40 years \u2014 but the cameo also directly contradicts a line the character had in \u201cEpisode I.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\" the acolyte episode four: so much for canon i guess... width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3lBsWrYzPfA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Even without the pronouns, this show has been an absolute mess for the most die-hard (and those may be the only types left) \u201cStar Wars\u201d fans.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Were you ever a fan of &#8220;Star Wars&#8221;?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>And the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maricopa-county-is-still-counting-votes-but-they-had-time-to-lash-out-at-disinformation-super-spreaders\/\" title=\"Maricopa County Is Still Counting Votes, But They Had Time To Lash Out At \u2018Disinformation Super Spreaders\u2019\">social media response<\/a> to \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d has reflected that. Even a cursory look at comments under \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d content shows that fans are none too thrilled with the series \u2014 be it for culture war issues or plot contrivances.<\/p>\n<p>Headland has already branded \u201cThe Acolyte\u201d as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/acolyte-creator-slammed-making-gayest-star-wars-ever-fans-enough\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the gayest<\/a> \u2018Star Wars&#8217;\u201d ever.<\/p>\n<p>If it continues to disrespect the source material and the common decency of normal people everywhere, it may also be the deadest \u201cStar Wars\u201d show ever.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
