Senator Cruz highlighted the alarming rise in exploitative sexual \u2063material online, \u2062exacerbated by new AI technologies that allow \u200bperpetrators to \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-ai-most-dangerous-thing-out-there\/\" title=\"Trump: AI is the biggest threat\">create highly realistic<\/a> and unauthorized sexual images of individuals, increasingly affecting\u200b minors and women.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Tuesday, Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz introduced a bill to protect and empower victims of \u201crevenge pornography.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The bill, titled the \u201cTools to Address Known Exploitation by Immobilizing Technological Deepfakes on Websites and Networks (TAKE IT DOWN) Act,\u201d would \u201ccriminalize the publication of non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), including AI-generated NCII (or \u201cdeepfake pornography\u201d), and require social media and similar websites to have in place procedures to remove such content upon notification from a victim,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruz.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/sen-cruz-leads-colleagues-in-unveiling-landmark-bill-to-protect-victims-of-deepfake-revenge-porn\"><span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">according<\/span><\/a>  to Cruz\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere has been a staggering increase in exploitative sexual material online, largely due to predators taking advantage of new technologies like generative artificial intelligence, or AI,\u201d Cruz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorTedCruz\/videos\/deepfake-sexual-images-on-social-media-are-a-very-real-problemi-cant-imagine-the\/451109550986715\/\">stated<\/a>. \u201cNow almost instantaneously, perpetrators can use an app on their phones to create fake, explicit images depicting real people, commonly referred to as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kinzinger-gosar-should-be-censured-for-creepy-anime-video\/\" title=\"Kinzinger: Gosar Should Be Censured for 'Creepy' Anime Video\">deep fakes<\/a>. Disturbingly, this is increasingly affecting and targeting minors, particularly young girls. Up to 95% of all internet deep fakes depict sexual images, with the vast majority of it targeting women and girls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt feels like almost every week now we\u2019re seeing a new report of a middle school or high school young girl falling victim to this despicable activity,\u201d he continued. \u201cYoung girls are waking up to a text message from their friends saying there\u2019s an explicit photo of them circulating on social media or explicit video. And yet, the photos aren\u2019t real. They were created using AI, typically taking the face of a real person and using AI technology to graph this seamlessly and imperceptibly to a different image, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/middle-school-teacher-in-texas-arrested-on-possession-of-child-pornography-charges\/\" title=\"Middle School Teacher In Texas Arrested On Possession Of Child Pornography Charges\">sexually explicit image<\/a>. Imagine being 14 years old and showing up at school where your classmates believe they have seen an explicit photo of you that is a fake and a fraud. The photos may not be real, but the pain and the humiliation is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1716990157394000&#038;usg=AOvVaw33qQydjIo8bet419amChif\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cFor many young teens, it\u2019s changed their lives forever,\u201d he declared. \u201cEven worse, these photos can prove very difficult to remove from the internet. They can spread quickly from one phone to another, to another to another, causing many women and girls to have to live with being victimized over and over again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere are a few bills in the Senate right now that are working to tackle this issue,\u201d he acknowledged. \u201cI want to be clear, our legislation is designed to be complementary to those efforts. I\u2019ve supported the other efforts, and this is designed to fill gaps that the other bills do not address. As the ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, my legislation is the first of its kind to require websites, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-finds-fewer-than-100-troops-engaged-in-extremist-activity-in-past-year\/\" title=\"Pentagon Finds 'Fewer than 100' Troops Engaged in Extremist Activity in Past Year\">including social media sites<\/a>, to have in place a process to remove such content within 48 hours of a request from the victim.
