Not where you work, not at a P.O. Box. So we\u2019re trying to get elections officials to enforce the law,\u201d Lauren Bis, PILF\u2019s director of communication and engagement, says in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4Cpz61NIQe8&#038;t=107s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">video<\/a> tracking bad addresses in the Las Vegas area. <\/p>\n<p>To that end, the foundation has filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/cases\/washoe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">petition<\/a> in Washoe County, Nevada\u2019s second-most populous county, to force elections officials to investigate and fix commercial addresses on the voter roll. PILF investigators found addresses on the rolls reported as liquor stores, empty lots, and even the Nevada Gaming Control Board, among others. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Baseless Attacks?<\/h2>\n<p>Elias Law Group and a band of leftists have sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/2024-05-28-Rise-Action-Funds-motion-to-intervene-as-respondents.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intervene<\/a> in PILF\u2019s petition for a writ of mandamus, arguing that forcing Washoe election administrators to follow the law and clean up the county\u2019s dirty voter rolls will \u201cthreaten\u201d voting rights. <\/p>\n<p>The would-be intervenors claim that their members and constituents would be forced to \u201cexpend substantial resources to educate voters and protect them from baseless attacks on their eligibility.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c2ec9940897c57e49fc61e13227bd9dd fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c2ec9940897c57e49fc61e13227bd9dd\"><\/div>\n<p>Baseless attacks? <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist recently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/11\/william-sitton-doesnt-live-here-tracking-nevadas-dirty-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Bis was greeted with a lot of quizzical looks from employees at the casinos, fast-food restaurants, retailers, post offices, funeral homes, strip clubs, tattoo parlors, and jails where registered voters \u2014 at least according to Nevada\u2019s dirty voter rolls \u2014 \u201cresided.\u201d\u00a0What PILF found was equal parts sad and hilarious, foundation President J. Christian Adams told me on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spreaker.com\/episode\/the-biggest-threats-facing-our-elections--60415478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Federalist Radio Hour<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/william-sitton-doesnt-live-here-tracking-nevadas-dirty-voter-rolls\/\" title=\"William Sitton Doesn't Reside Here: Examining Nevada's Flawed Voter Lists\">election integrity public interest law firm tracked data<\/a> from the Nevada secretary of state\u2019s office, which in the 2022 midterm elections reported 95,556 ballots sent to undeliverable, or \u201cbad,\u201d addresses. PILF investigators documented commercial addresses purported to be the residences of registered voters, confirming on video that the individuals did not live where they reported residing. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been to all of the locations. It\u2019s not some data exercise we see sitting at a computer in Chicago. We\u2019ve actually got boots on the ground looking for the voters, and they don\u2019t exist,\u201d Adams said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d0dd8e67f0ccc59865097804c82b6b5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4d0dd8e67f0ccc59865097804c82b6b5\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Disastrous Elections System\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Making matters worse, Nevada automatically mails a ballot to every active registrant on the voter rolls. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking for Ronald or William Phelps,\u201d Bis says in the video to a bartender wearing a \u201cTacos por favor\u201d T-shirt at a local watering hole on North Nellis Boulevard in Vegas. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know who that is,\u201d the barkeep replies. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, they don\u2019t live here?\u201d Bis asks. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUh, at the bar? No,\u201d the bartender says, chuckling. She\u2019s clearly amused by the question. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s almost as amusing as Elias and friends\u2019 apparent efforts to stop election officials from following the law under the absurd premise of voter rights. Their court filing offers a dire warning about what will happen if Washoe County is required to do what PILF has done: Washoe County\u2019s job. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Court grants such relief, Respondent Burgess \u2014 and other clerks and registrars across\u00a0the state \u2014 will be flooded with third-party demands to investigate all manner of alleged peculiarities in the voter rolls, based on unsourced, unverified, and unsworn information,\u201d the court filing admonishes. \u201cPetitioners are not the only ones making such demands. Nevada is in the midst of a storm of baseless efforts by third parties to force election officials to undertake a rushed purge of registered voters before the November election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adams called Elias\u2019 latest lawfare stunt a \u201ccry wolf exercise.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe does this all over the country. He spools up these progressive astroturf organizations and they file a legal brief, which they have done in our case, which we have to respond to, that says, \u2018Oh, if you listen to these evil conservatives, there will be eligible people improperly removed from the rolls.\u2019 Nonsense,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/about\/team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adams<\/a>, who formerly served in the Voting Section at the U.S. Department of Justice and was appointed to President Trump\u2019s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarc Elias is in the business of defending the riches of a disastrous elections system with universal vote-by-mail that are sending ballots automatically to thousands of bogus addresses,\u201d Adams added.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-888bd1dfdc9af51c7d5a0fcb7853e1c0 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-888bd1dfdc9af51c7d5a0fcb7853e1c0\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marc Elias, known for his involvement in controversial political cases, is now part of a significant election integrity lawsuit in Nevada.
