General Assembly on September 24, 2019 in New York City.&nbsp; (Photo by Spencer Platt\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>UPDATED 7:40 PM PT \u2013 Monday, March 15, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>The Washington Post backtracked after they were caught fabricating a direct quote from President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The Post quietly released an official correction late last week, after audio of President Trump speaking with the Georgia Secretary of State\u2019s chief investigator Frances Watson was released to the public.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">real bad. this quote was and still is everywhere. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jZwQ9rPwRp\">pic.twitter.com\/jZwQ9rPwRp<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Thompson (@AlexThomp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlexThomp\/status\/1371510639227760645?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That correction was placed at the top of the original article on their conversation. It clearly states the President never asked the official to \u201cfind the fraud,\u201d or suggested she\u2019d be a national hero if she did.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the President can be heard expressing his worries that ballot signatures could be falsified, and urging Watson to check for instances of possible fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will say this. If and when, I mean, hopefully this will show, because if you go back two years or four years you\u2019re going to see it\u2019s a totally different signature,\u201d President Trump stated. \u201cBut hopefully when the right answer comes out you\u2019ll be praised. I mean, I don\u2019t know why, you know they\u2019ve made it so hard. They will be praised. People will say, \u2018great,\u2019 because that\u2019s what it\u2019s about. That ability to check and to make it right, because everyone knows it\u2019s wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press was the first outlet to release the audio, which was reportedly found in Watson\u2019s trash folder in her computer.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Washington Post issuing a correction, other outlets that jumped on the story, including ABC, have yet to redact the false quotes attributed to President Trump.<\/p>\n<p>CNN came the closest to offering a redacting by posting an editor\u2019s note on the original story, saying it \u201cparaphrased\u201d President Trump\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n<h4>MORE NEWS: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oann.com\/iran-touts-new-missile-base-amid-soft-stance-by-biden\/\">Iran Touts New Missile Base Amid Soft Stance By Biden<\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK, NY \u2013 SEPTEMBER 24: U.S. President Donald Trump spoke to the media at the United Nations (U.N.)
