After some back and forth, Hawley stated that Calhoun&#8217;s salary was $32.8 million this \u2063year,\u2064 marking a \u200c45% increase from the \u2062previous year. I mean, do you get paid for transparency? If that part of \u2014 is that one of the metrics for your income?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Calhoun explained, \u201cI think the board counts on me for transparency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comment prompted a stern retort in which Hawley listed a number of investigations that Boeing has faced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is all in your tenure. This doesn\u2019t sound like a lot of transparency to me,\u201d Hawley said.<\/p>\n<p>As Boeing has been inundated with controversies, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/boeing-paid-alaska-160m-compensation-door-plug-incident\/story?id=108859251\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">door plug incident<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-federal-investigators-reveal-likely-reason-for-helicopter-crash-that-killed-kobe-bryant\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Federal Investigators Reveal Likely Reason For Helicopter Crash That Killed Kobe Bryant\">plane crashes<\/a>, Hawley also pressed Calhoun on safety and quality control.<\/p>\n<p>The senator accused Calhoun of trying to \u201csqueeze\u201d profit out of the company while \u201ccutting corners\u201d and endangering lives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator, I don\u2019t recognize any of the Boeing you described,\u201d Calhoun insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Hawley asked Calhoun why he has not resigned, to which the executive declared he is \u201csticking this through\u201d and is \u201cproud\u201d of Boeing\u2019s work \u2014 including its safety record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWow.
