The candidate, Republican Anthony \u2063Hudson, \u2064who is contending in\u2064 the GOP primary \u2062for Michigan\u2019s \u20638th Congressional District, released a TikTok video \u2064that featured an AI version of King claiming \u200bto support Hudson&#8217;s election. This use \u2063of AI has\u2064 raised concerns among legislators, including Joe Morelle (D-NY) of the House Administration\u200b Committee, and \u2063Michigan Representatives \u200cDan\u200b Kildee and \u2062Debbie Dingell.\u200d They emphasized the need for regulatory action, suggesting that campaign ads using AI should include Disclaimers to help\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rnc-chair-says-it-would-be-a-mistake-for-trump-to-skip-primary-debates\/\" title=\"RNC Chair warns against Trump skipping primary debates.\">voters make informed decisions<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>A pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Michigan\">Michigan<\/a> Democrats want Congress to address <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"artificial intelligence\">artificial intelligence<\/a> usage in campaigns after a congressional candidate from their state used an AI voice-over of Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/martin-luther-king\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Martin Luther King, Jr.\">Martin Luther King Jr<\/a>. to support his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Long-shot Republican Anthony Hudson, who is running in the GOP primary for Michigan\u2019s 8th Congressional District, released a video last week on TikTok using an AI-generated voice-over depicting King <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HeartlandSignal\/status\/1801632042544746812\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"proclaiming\">proclaiming<\/a> he had \u201canother dream\u201d and that it was for Hudson to win the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-continuous-media-covid-fear-mongering-may-backfire-and-diminish-democrat-voter-turnout\/\" title=\"The Continuous Media COVID Fear Mongering May BACKFIRE and Diminish Democrat Voter Turnout\">congressional seat<\/a>. House Administration Committee ranking member Joe Morelle (D-NY), alongside Reps. Dan Kildee (D-MI) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI), expressed concern over the use of AI and called on Congress to act in a release on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCampaign advertisements with AI-generated content should at a minimum have a Disclaimer so voters can make informed decisions about their vote,\u201d Kildee, who represents Michigan\u2019s 8th Congressional District, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCongress must act to address the risks that artificial intelligence poses to our democracy and ensure commonsense guardrails are in place for the use of AI in our elections,\u201d Kildee added.<\/p>\n<p>Dingell said the advertisement is \u201cdisturbing and wrong,\u201d noting that the threat AI can pose to the democratic process must be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we work to defend our democracy against the dangerous and growing spread of disinformation, we must keep up with rapidly emerging and evolving technologies including AI,\u201d\u00a0Dingell said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s disturbing and wrong that anyone would use this technology to fabricate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\u2019s voice to further their political agenda and intentionally mislead voters,\u201d she added. \u201cWe must address this threat quickly to protect the integrity of our elections and ensure this does not continue to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the state level, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) signed into law last November <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2906425\/how-swing-state-election-laws-have-changed-since-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"legislation\">legislation<\/a> that required AI-generated campaign advertisements to include a statement saying such, among other regulations.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hudson had initially apologized for the video but <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AHudson2k24\/status\/1801747793511379017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"later\">later<\/a> said King would endorse him if he were still alive today and walked back a claim he would fire the staffer who had access to his social media account.
