Crawford<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/3036759\/left-leaning-judge-susan-crawford-wisconsin-supreme-court-bid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> will likely face<\/a> conservative Waukesha County Circuit judge and former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin<\/a> Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wisconsin-supreme-court-brad-schimel-15cc48084e9c0177816c1557f2476d57\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Brad Schimel<\/a> in the 2025 election. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, we\u2019re finally delivering on that promise and making decisions rooted in the law and our constitution \u2014 we can\u2019t risk going backward. I\u2019m proud to endorse Judge Susan Crawford because I know she shares our belief in a justice system that gives everyone a fair shot,\u201d Justice Janet Protasiewicz said. Justices Rebecca Dallet, Jill Karofsky, and Bradley also pledged their support.<\/p>\n<p>Protasiewicz was elected to her role in 2023 in what was Wisconsin\u2019s most expensive Supreme Court election. In 2023, both Protasiewicz and her opponent spent $51.06 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn terms of the timing, it is unusual, and probably even extraordinary,\u201d Janine Geske, a former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice and Marquette University Law School professor, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/liberal-justices-endorse-susan-crawford-wisconsin-supreme-court-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin Public Radio<\/a>. \u201cI think that people are feeling like they gotta get in the race early and work hard, because if you have to raise that kind of money, it\u2019s going to take substantial time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schimel announced his candidacy six months ago and downplayed the importance of Crawford\u2019s early endorsements in a statement.
