Taylor Swift has been good for the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s turned the Kansas City Chiefs, quite improbably, into a global brand. They\u2019ll likely be the first Super Bowl dynasty to be the subject of a cryptic breakup song. She\u2019s a large part of the reason that Super Bowl LVIII between the Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers this February was the most watched telecast ever, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/operations.nfl.com\/updates\/the-game\/super-bowl-lviii-is-most-watched-telecast-in-history\/#:~:text=CBS%20Sports'%20coverage%20of%20Super,Paramount%2B%2C%20Nickelodeon%2C%20Univision%2C%20and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NFL<\/a>. Not the most watched <em>Super Bowl<\/em>, the most watched telecast, <em>period.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s great for her and the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor Swift still doesn\u2019t deserve a Super Bowl ring for being the girlfriend of the second-best player on the Chiefs team.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t tell that to Pat McAfee, however.<\/p>\n<p>McAfee, the controversial ESPN host, isn\u2019t a deliberate hot-take contrarian, but he is a bit of a loose cannon and tends to speak his mind. Some of the things on his mind are better than others. This one was on the worse end of the scale.<\/p>\n<p>During his Friday show, McAfee noted that Swift couldn\u2019t attend the ring-presentation ceremony in Kansas City because the singer was playing in Liverpool, England, as part of her interminable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/box-office-upset-sound-freedom-bumps-taylor-swifts-eras-tour-movie-2023-top-10-film-list\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eras Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, she did join a livestream from England in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-cori-bush-rushes-to-defense-of-very-violent-criminals-rioting-attacking-guard-in-jail\/\" title=\"Democrat Cori Bush Rushes To Defense Of \u2018Very Violent\u2019 Criminals Rioting, Attacking Guard In Jail\">early morning hours<\/a> to celebrate the Chiefs\u2019 25-22 victory over the 49ers in February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaylor Swift joined[Chiefswidereceiver[MecoleHardman\u2019slady\u2019sInstagramLiveandwasjustcommentingatlike4aminLiverpoolaftertheshowwantedtobeapartofitall\u201dMcAfeesaid[Chiefswidereceiver[MecoleHardman\u2019slady\u2019sInstagramLiveandwasjustcommentingatlike4aminLiverpoolaftertheshowwantedtobeapartofitall\u201dMcAfeesaid<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Does Taylor Swift need a Super Bowl ring?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aaron-rodgers-ban-star-qb-reappears-pat-mcafee-show-days-kimmel-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McAfee<\/a> called his shot: \u201cBecause she was. Taylor: Congrats on your first Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey should have sent a ring to Liverpool because of the aura that she brought into the entire thing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on getting their Super Bowl rings \ud83d\udc4f<\/p>\n<p>Taylor Swift was commenting from LIVERPOOL<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/PMSLive?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#PMSLive<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/d3bhSH8oBq\">pic.twitter.com\/d3bhSH8oBq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PatMcAfeeShow\/status\/1801658691206189488?\">June 14, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s often difficult to tell whether <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-hannity-goes-off-espns-pat-mcafee-caitlin-clark-backlash-horrible-host\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McAfee<\/a> is being serious or not \u2014 but ESPN certainly thought he was legitimately shilling for TayTay to get a ring, giving this title to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7PTP6jrPuLc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> clip of the monologue: \u201cPat McAfee says Taylor Swift deserves a Super Bowl ring for the championship aura.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Short of Vladimir Putin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/fact-check-robert-kraft-claims-230000953.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged theft<\/a> of one of Robert Kraft\u2019s Super Bowl rings when the Russian president visited the New England Patriots owner, I can think of no less deserving Super Bowl ring recipient than Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n<p>Even Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, is arguably a more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-maher-is-not-your-new-conservative-bff\/\" title=\"Bill Maher Is Not Your New Conservative BFF\">deserving recipient<\/a> of a championship ring because he managed to rescue Dan Marino from the clutches of Ray Finkle and deliver him safely to a Super Bowl that never really happened because it was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rev-graham-uses-jim-carreys-gruesome-abortion-painting-prove-carreys-sicko-knows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Carrey<\/a> movie and Dan Marino could never win the big game, anyway. Still more deserving, though, in this writer\u2019s book.<\/p>\n<p>What did Taylor Swift do? She cheered on her boyfriend. A lot, as the not-infrequent camera pans to her whenever the Chiefs were playing proved. She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-taylor-swift-cold-air-reaction-goes-viral-golden-globes-host-jokes-nfl-coverage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">provided a fun diversion<\/a>. It gave the world an opportunity to see Swift without hearing her bland music, for once. That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>But she ended up joining a livestream from Liverpool in the wee hours of the morning to celebrate her boyfriend\u2019s team\u2019s championship? Stop them presses! Make sure she has a ring!<\/p>\n<p>Swift-mania may be good for the business of football, but \u2014 at best \u2014 it\u2019s a net neutral for the game itself. She did nothing for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/must-watch-bill-maher-defends-chiefs-kicker-slams-agitators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> and arguably created a distraction for the players who had to take the field. That gets you a Super Bowl ring?<\/p>\n<p>This is the kind of witless hot take we\u2019re accustomed to seeing from Skip Bayless or Colin Cowherd. McAfee is an interesting, intelligent individual who is willing to say what others won\u2019t and think outside the box \u2014 but this is may be the worst possible reaction to the synergistic relationship between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/taylor-swift-races-private-jet-moments-tokyo-concert-ends-see-travis-kelce-super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swift and the NFL<\/a> we\u2019ve heard in quite some time, and that\u2019s saying something.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
