This revelation comes just before a Senate hearing with Boeing&#8217;s CEO, David Calhoun, \u200baddressing Boeing&#8217;s safety issues. Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/richard-blumenthal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Richard Blumenthal<\/a> (D-CT) announced Tuesday that Mohawk had revealed himself to the senator\u2019s office, alleging his employer uses parts that should be discarded or fixed on newly built airplanes. Mohawk\u2019s allegations come as the attorney for two Boeing whistleblowers who died this year <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2024\/05\/09\/more-boeing-whistleblowers-emerge-law-firm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> their deaths have prompted at least 10 other witnesses to speak out. <\/p>\n<p>Blumenthal is set to question Boeing CEO David Calhoun on Tuesday afternoon during a Senate hearing on \u201cBoeing\u2019s broken safety culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boeing has come under fire following a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ive-been-extremely-lucky-in-my-life-jay-leno-says-he-doesnt-let-recent-horrific-accidents-upset-him\/\" title=\"Jay Leno feels fortunate and doesn't let recent accidents affect him.\">recent accidents<\/a> with its planes. In January, a Boeing plane had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/buttigieg-dismisses-idea-he-would-run-for-demanding-potus-office-again\/\" title=\"Buttigieg rejects notion of running for presidency again, citing the job's demands\">door plug fall<\/a> off midflight. Scott Applewhite)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Blumenthal will specifically address the Alaska Airlines incident during the hearing on Tuesday, according to excerpts of Blumenthal\u2019s testimony obtained by ABC News. <\/p>\n<p>Following the Alaska blowout, the aviation giant experienced a series of high-profile episodes in January and March. <\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 19, a Boeing 747-8 made an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/siladityaray\/2024\/01\/19\/boeing-747-8-cargo-plane-makes-emergency-landing-in-miami-after-engine-malfunctions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>emergency landing<\/a> after videos showed flames coming out of the plane\u2019s left wing. The crew determined the plane had experienced engine failure. The same month, a plane at Georgia\u2019s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was delayed after its front nose wheel <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/faa-investigating-after-delta-boeing-plane-loses-front\/story?id=106613652\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>fell off<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In March, 50 people were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-68488418\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>injured<\/a> after a Dreamliner bound for New Zealand dropped midflight due to a technical problem. On March 7, a Boeing was diverted to the Los Angeles airport after losing a tire during takeoff. Later that month, an exterior panel seemingly fell off a Boeing midflight. <\/p>\n<p>In April, another Boeing whistleblower, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/2961811\/boeings-culture-of-secrecy-forces-another-whistleblower-forward\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Sam Salehpour<\/a>, alleged the manufacturer was skipping crucial safety steps that endangered flyers. Investigators determined the death was a suicide. A former quality auditor at Boeing supplier Spirit AeroSystems, Joshua Dean, died in May after a sudden illness.
