The report, authored by Inspector General Joseph \u200bV. Cuffari and published on\u200d June 7, \u2062criticizes these practices, noting\u200b that \u200dofficers were pushed to only question drivers and not passengers. Additionally, officers \u200dwere instructed against using &#8220;Simplified \u200bArrival,&#8221; a biometric tool designed to help identify individuals with criminal warrants, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blackburn-introduces-amendments-to-counter-china-and-iran\/\" title=\"Blackburn Introduces Amendments to Counter China and Iran\">national security concerns<\/a>, \u200dor significant border crossing histories. This lack\u200b of thorough vetting raises \u200bconcerns about\u200d the\u2062 potential entry of dangerous persons into the U.S., thus posing threats to public safety and national security. \u2062The \u2063report also assessed the effectiveness \u200cof DHS procedures regarding\u200c the screening and vetting of asylum seekers and other noncitizens seeking entry into the\u2062 U.S., especially in light\u2064 of past difficulties such as those encountered with Afghan refugees. Significant findings from the\u200d report also \u2063pointed out inconsistencies and lapses\u2062 in supervisory practices \u200cat these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cbo-shock-at-least-860000-border-gotaways-in-2023\/\" title=\"CBO reveals: Over 860,000 border 'gotaways' in 2023\">border entry points<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A recent report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oig.dhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/assets\/2024-06\/OIG-24-27-Jun24-Redacted.pdf\">published<\/a> by the Department of Homeland Security said that under the Biden administration, U.S. Customs and Border Protection management pressured officers to allow vehicles to cross from Mexico without proper inspection.<\/p>\n<p>The June 7 report, authored by Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari, said that supervisors at multiple land ports of entry pushed Border Patrol officers to only question the drivers of vehicles entering the United States and not passengers. Officers were instructed not to use \u201cSimplified Arrival,\u201d a biometric tool used by the DHS to \u201cidentify criminal warrants, national security concerns, or border crossing history, before admitting [individuals] into the country.\u201d The report further noted that \u201cDHS will remain at risk of admitting dangerous persons into the country who may pose threats to public safety and national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report sought to determine the effectiveness of DHS procedures to screen and vet asylum seekers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pakistani-illegal-immigrant-on-fbi-terror-list-arrested-at-border-day-after-title-42-ended\/\" title=\"FBI-listed Pakistani illegal immigrant caught at border after Title 42 lift.\">noncitizens seeking admission<\/a> into the United States following the challenges encountered while screening and vetting refugees, specifically those from Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Other significant findings in the report included twenty-nine supervisors \u201cconsistently\u201d instructing subordinate officers to question only persons driving vehicles, not passengers, in crossing vehicles. Over 150 officers admitted to querying only drivers, with 104 doing so \u201cmonthly or more often.\u201d Additionally, two officers stated that \u201cto speed traffic flow, travelers either without identification or with expired documents were admitted into the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the rise of border crossings all along the southern border, agents have often said they\u2019re overwhelmed. Policy for the CBP states that \u201cits land POE processing policy permits exceptions when local port management does not consider complete inspections to be operationally feasible.\u201d In essence, the agency considers factors such as staffing, cross-border events, and traffic volume as reasons not to enforce strict identification review. Port management directed \u201cprimary inspection lanes to query only drivers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-pressed-on-biden-putting-migrants-in-hotels-while-national-guard-slept-in-d-c-parking-garages\/\" title=\"Psaki Pressed On Biden Putting Migrants In Hotels While National Guard Slept In D.C. Parking Garages\">expedite processing<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same report said this practice \u201cleaves officers unaware of potentially derogatory information about persons in a vehicle.\u201d Officers were pressured to release vehicles against their judgment even if they believed all persons should be queried before allowing them to enter the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 900,000 people enter the nation through POEs every day.
