He suggests that the\u200c only way to \u200coverturn the\u2063 verdict would be through the \u2064Supreme Court,\u200b anticipating that such a legal process\u200b would take several \u2063years. Donalds, along with Speaker Johnson and many Americans, believes that\u2064 the Supreme Court&#8217;s \u200cinvolvement is crucial\u200b in this matter.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Supreme Court should address former President Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ana-navarro-says-alleged-smollett-hate-crime-hoax-was-believable\/\" title=\"Ana Navarro Says Alleged Smollett Hate Crime Hoax Was \u201cBelievable\u201d\">recent conviction<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"New York\">New York<\/a>, according to Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/byron-donalds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Byron Donalds\">Byron Donalds<\/a> (R-FL).<\/p>\n<p>The Florida lawmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/byron-donalds-urges-supreme-court-step-trump-conviction-ny-hush-money-rcna157351\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> NBC\u2019s <em>Meet the Press<\/em> on Sunday that the high court should \u201cstep in\u201d after Trump was convicted by a Manhattan jury of 34 counts of falsifying business records.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only ability for this to be overturned is going to be happening two or three years from now. We all know this,\u201d Donalds said. \u201cThat\u2019s why what happened in lower Manhattan was to interfere with an election, which is why Speaker Johnson, myself included, and many Americans believe the Supreme Court should step in to this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Donalds, a Brooklyn native <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3040543\/trump-vp-shortlist-top-candidates-election-2024\/\">on Trump\u2019s shortlist for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: 'Pipeline' to Obama Admin Seen as 'Currency'\">vice president<\/a><\/a>, also lamented the New York court system, saying it was being politicized.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was convicted last month over a 2016 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, and he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/he-fraudulently-claimed-coronavirus-relief-funds-then-faked-his-suicide-to-avoid-prosecution-now-hes-agreed-to-plead-guilty\/\" title=\"He Fraudulently Claimed Coronavirus Relief Funds, Then Faked His Suicide To Avoid Prosecution. Now He\u2019s Agreed To Plead Guilty.\">faces sentencing<\/a> on July 11. In New York, he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3023373\/trump-guilty-appeals-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>able<\/a> to file an appeal notice within 30 days of his sentencing, but he will have months to submit his appeal arguments after that.<\/p>\n<p>If the Supreme Court were to weigh in on Trump\u2019s case in New York, it would not be until after the appellate process has been exhausted in the state. Trump\u2019s appeal would first go through an intermediary appellate court, and then it could potentially be taken to the state\u2019s highest court, the New York Court of Appeals.<\/p>\n<p>Donalds also blasted Trump\u2019s case, brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, as a \u201cviolation of [Trump\u2019s] constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn\u2019t even identify the \u2018crime\u2019 until the very end of the process, which is a violation of constitutional norms.
