He noted this situation as the protective measures\u200c offered \u200cby DACA were intended as\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/appeals-court-rejects-landlords-pleas-to-end-eviction-moratorium\/\" title=\"Appeals Court Rejects Landlords\u2019 Pleas To End Eviction Moratorium\">temporary solutions<\/a>, and Congress has not yet enacted legislation \u2063to \u2062grant permanent status to these individuals. The former president\u2019s reflection serves as\u200b a reminder that despite the passage of time, the legal uncertainties surrounding DACA recipients \u200dremain unresolved.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Former President Barack Obama celebrated the 12th anniversary of his executive action on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-biden-to-unveil-immigration-agenda-next-tuesday\/\" title=\"Psaki: Biden to unveil immigration agenda next Tuesday\">illegal immigration<\/a> known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) \u2014 despite the fact that prior to taking that action, he\u2019d said that he wasn\u2019t \u201ca king\u201d and couldn\u2019t unilaterally change immigration law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwelve years ago today, my administration announced the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/swing-state-dem-wanted-illegal-immigrants-to-receive-taxpayer-funded-covid-relief\/\" title=\"Democratic representative from a swing state proposed giving undocumented immigrants taxpayer-funded COVID relief\">giving undocumented immigrants<\/a> who were brought to this country as children a pathway to citizenship,\u201d Obama began.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Twelve years ago today, my administration announced the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, giving undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country as children a pathway to citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>Today, most of the original Dreamers are grown. They\u2019re serving\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Barack Obama (@BarackObama) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BarackObama\/status\/1802008518242849209?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 15, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>But then Obama pointed out that, after 12 years, many of the minors who had been protected under his DACA order had since grown up and were still at risk of being deported because Congress had never taken the necessary steps to make his temporary action permanent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, most of the original Dreamers are grown. They\u2019re serving their communities as teachers, doctors, lawyers, and having children of their own. But because the program that offered that protection remains temporary, they\u2019re also living in fear of being sent back to a country many of them can\u2019t even remember,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden Administration has made it easier for DACA recipients to access federal programs, including getting health care through the Affordable Care Act,\u201d Obama added, giving President Joe Biden credit for continuing down the path he\u2019d marked out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut until Congress acts, Dreamers will continue to live under a cloud of uncertainty,\u201d Obama concluded. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m calling on Congress once again to pass a permanent legislative solution for Dreamers \u2013 one that offers them a pathway to citizenship and makes our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">immigration system<\/a> fairer, more efficient, and more just.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politifact.com\/factchecks\/2016\/apr\/25\/bob-goodlatte\/goodlatte-obama-said-22-times-he-lacks-power-chang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2011 town hal<\/a>l in Washington, D.C., Obama famously claimed that he could simply use an executive order to stop deportations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive orders, that\u2019s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed \u2026 Congress passes the law. The executive branch\u2019s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are enough laws on the books that are very clear in terms of how we enforce our immigration system that for me to, simply through executive order, ignore these constitutional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as president.
