The latest reminder comes courtesy of The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Donald Trump\u2019s birthday, the Post ran a predictable \u2014 but nonetheless despicable \u2014 piece of 2024 election propaganda titled, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/elections\/2024\/06\/14\/donald-trump-age-birthday-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump, potential future oldest president, turns 78<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1157103459\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e2849be20d0f6c79fd301fb33e265e15 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e2849be20d0f6c79fd301fb33e265e15\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAge is just a number, the adage goes. For Donald Trump, that number just got bigger,\u201d writes national political \u201creporter\u201d Marianne LeVine, who adds that Trump\u2019s age \u201chas also drawn notice from some voters and experts on aging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh, experts you say? The Post and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/even-with-the-media-tossing-her-softballs-biden-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-cant-get-the-bat-off-her-shoulder\/\" title=\"Even With The Media Tossing Her Softballs, Biden Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Can\u2019t Get The Bat Off Her Shoulder\">media lapdogs love<\/a> nothing more than laundering their opinions through self-styled \u201cexperts,\u201d as we all saw with the Covid panic, Democrats\u2019 republic-destroying lawfare, \u201ccooling\u201d inflation, forever wars, and more \u2014 including now apparently presidential fitness and \u201caging.\u201d As for what the voters notices, let\u2019s just say it diverges from the headline.<\/p>\n<p>The Post cites two polls of voters. In May, Marquette Law School asked registered voters, \u201cHow well does [too old to be president] describe Biden or Trump?\u201d Of the results, the Post wrote: \u201cSeventy-nine percent said it described Biden very or somewhat well, while 54 percent said it described Trump very or somewhat well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper then cites an April Pew Research poll showing that, in the Post\u2019s telling, \u201c62 percent of voters said they were not confident in Biden\u2019s mental fitness, and 65 percent said they were not confident in his physical fitness. Trump drew more positive ratings but still faced doubts: 48 percent said they were not confident in his mental fitness, and 39 percent said the same of his physical fitness.\u201d Leading to The Washington Post framing the results as \u201cfewer than half of Biden\u2019s supporters\u201d being confident in his fitness, as opposed to a \u201cmajority of Trump supporters\u201d expressing confidence in their candidate.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f358543326a816d6ce9cbeaa938c5ad1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f358543326a816d6ce9cbeaa938c5ad1\"><\/div>\n<p>This is already a headscratcher because you\u2019d think a piece specifically written to a headline about Trump\u2019s age and the \u201cpotential\u201d that he\u2019s the \u201cfuture oldest president\u201d would show worse marks for Trump than for Biden. But even the Post can\u2019t spin the data quite that far. <\/p>\n<p>But spin it they tried. I know because I read the pollsters in their own words (I guess The Washington Post\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/mLFa8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">love<\/a> of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.norwichbulletin.com\/story\/news\/politics\/government\/2017\/08\/24\/trump-s-claim-that-he\/19347092007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">context<\/a>\u201d is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/XXl35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">circumstantial<\/a>), which are far more damning. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden particularly is seen as too old to be president compared to those who see Trump as too old,\u201d says the Marquette poll <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=319891&#038;action=edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">press release<\/a>. And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2024\/04\/24\/voters-views-of-biden-and-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here\u2019s Pew Research<\/a> (emphasis mine):<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>By far, voters have<\/strong> <strong>the lowest level of confidence in Biden when it comes to having the mental and physical fitness to do the job<\/strong>. Fewer than a quarter of voters express a high degree of confidence in his mental (21%) and physical (15%) fitness.<\/p>\n<p>In both cases, majorities say they are not too or not at all confident (62% are not confident in his mental fitness, 65% are not confident in his physical fitness).<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, <strong>Trump draws the most confidence for his physical and mental fitness for office.<\/strong> About four-in-ten (38%) are extremely or very confident that Trump has the mental fitness to be president, while nearly as many (36%) are as confident in his physical fitness for the job.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Washington Post clearly cares far less about reflecting voter sentiment than shaping it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5259ed87ffcb9d98ee9147c5eff00532 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5259ed87ffcb9d98ee9147c5eff00532\"><\/div>\n<p>But the Post piece contains a far more basic and glaring lie: that newly 78-year-old Trump\u2019s potential to be the \u201coldest president\u201d if he wins the 2024 election is somehow worse than 81-year-old Joe Biden \u2014 who will turn 82 right after the election and currently holds the age record \u2014 continuing to be an even <em>older<\/em> president if he wins that same election. <\/p>\n<p>Are the Post\u2019s \u201cexperts on aging\u201d so bad at math that they don\u2019t realize Trump would have to complete the vast majority of a second term before he hits the age Biden is <em>right<\/em> <em>now<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Trump is elected this fall and serves a full term, he would eventually become the oldest U.S. president in history, eclipsing Biden,\u201d writes LeVine with a straight face, completely neglecting the alternative.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s classic media gaslighting \u2014 the \u201cdon\u2019t believe your lying eyes\u201d technique. Biden is such an unmitigated disaster that the Post has no choice but to give the bitter NeverTrump contingent a retweetable \u201cOld Orange Man\u201d headline to briefly interrupt the neverending Biden gaffe news cycle. <\/p>\n<p>To that end, the Post actually attempts to equate Biden and Trump\u2019s \u201cverbal gaffes,\u201d their doctors\u2019 notes attesting that they\u2019re \u201cfit for office,\u201d and their \u201cfumbles\u201d and \u201cstumbles.\u201d (Seriously.)<\/p>\n<p>Trump \u201cmixed up Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi during an event this year, and he has a long history of making false comments and going on meandering rants, including a recent one at his Las Vegas rally about shark attacks.\u201d You mean his hilarious rallies that draw thousands of people no matter where he goes in the country? Well then.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few things LeVine fails to compare and contrast between the two candidates. Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Zph7YXfjMhg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dancing<\/a> around and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/charliekirk11\/status\/1797088012544938007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">walking confidently<\/a> compared to Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6_GMEikcUAk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wandering<\/a> until his handlers come to the rescue (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/exnWMgYFbbA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">assuming he stays on his feet at all<\/a>). Trump\u2019s quick wit versus Biden\u2019s incoherence, forgetfulness, or awkward <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/15\/fake-fact-checkers-think-if-they-repeat-the-line-about-bidens-flawless-teleprompter-delivery-americans-will-forget-hes-losing-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reading of teleprompter parentheticals<\/a>. Trump\u2019s sharp sparring with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/confederate-soldiers-putin-and-chinese-state-media-3-people-the-legacy-media-compared-republicans-to-this-month\/\" title=\"Confederate Soldiers, Putin, And Chinese State Media: 3 People The Legacy Media Compared Republicans To This Month\">media compared<\/a> to Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Nj8yISt5Gzc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apparent inability to stay conscious<\/a> during interviews. Trump\u2019s straightforward video messages in contrast to Biden\u2019s quick X videos <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HawleyMO\/status\/1790725467839885708\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with an editing cut roughly every 2.6 seconds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And perhaps the most damning of all: Biden\u2019s Department of Justice charging the former president with 37 federal felony counts for allegedly retaining classified documents, while a different special counsel lets Biden off the hook for his own <em>worse<\/em> classified documents scandal because \u201cBiden would likely present himself to the jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So how about this for a headline? \u201cVoters Say Aging But Vigorous Trump Preferable To Older, Senile Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-47a1b251f53eb174050d8f080497b3df fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-47a1b251f53eb174050d8f080497b3df\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite your disdain for the media, it&#8217;s justified.
