The allegation suggested significant omissions, including\u200d entire verses and spiritual terms like \u2063&#8221;Jehovah&#8221; and \u2063&#8221;Holy Ghost,&#8221; comparing text differences between \u2063the KJV and NIV versions.\u200c However, HarperCollins, via \u200cits subsidiary Zondervan, clarified that\u2063 these so-called &#8220;missing verses&#8221; were not actually removed but included in the footnotes, indicating the claim in the post to be inaccurate.\u200d Additionally, the post \u200dwas\u200d associated with unrelated claims, further questioning its credibility.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"ob-read-more-selector\">\n<p><span>A post <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KazRulez\/posts\/pfbid02esN6auHrYbA4KXGjwM5eKr7KqQm8eWU99R7NqcBN6wjJhEtnEbWXVkgxk9wu42y1l\"><span>shared on Facebook<\/span><\/a><span>  claims HarperCollins removed 64,575 words in the NIV and ESV Bibles after acquiring the publishing rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Verdict: False<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The post is inaccurate. The \u201cmissing verses\u201d have been included in footnotes.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A 2,000-year-old piece of parchment has been discovered that tells a previously unheard of story of Jesus as a boy, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/28448235\/earliest-record-jesus-childhood-found\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Sun<\/a>. In the story, a five-year-old Jesus turned clay pigeons into live birds, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook post shares a \u201ccritical warning\u201d that some Bible verses have allegedly been omitted in the NIV and ESV versions. It shows a graphic comparing verses in the KJV and NIV versions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNIV was published by Zondervan but is now OWNED by Harper Collins, who also publishes the Satanic Bible and The Joy of Gay Sex. The NIV and ESV has now removed 64,575 words from the Bible including Jehovah, Calvary, Holy Ghost and omnipotent to name but a few,\u201d the post reads, in part. \u201cThe NIV and ESV has also now removed 45 complete verses.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2024\/05\/08\/fact-check-3d-model-taylor-swift-eve-princeton-scientists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Photo Shows 3d Model Of Taylor Swift, Not Biblical Figure Eve Created By Princeton Scientists)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The post is inaccurate. <span>Zondervan, a subsidiary of HarperCollins, responded to the claim in a separate Facebook <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10153573572958629&#038;set=o.6580805962&#038;type=1&#038;comment_id=10153573594113629&#038;offset=0&#038;total_comments=2&#038;comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R0%22%7D\"><span>post<\/span><\/a><span>  in July 2015 in a comment. The company explained that the \u201cmissing verses\u201d are actually located in footnotes. \u201cDuring the exacting translation process for the NIV Bible, some verses were found not to be included in the oldest or most reliable manuscripts that the NIV translators had available to use,\u201d the post reads, in part. \u201cWhen those verses could not be verified by the more reliable or older manuscripts, the NIV translators moved them to a footnote to reflect greater accuracy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forum-intl.org\/member\/biblica\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Biblica,<\/a> the global steward of the NIV Bible, also explained that the omitted verses are actually included in footnotes. \u201cThese footnotes are intended to help the reader understand that certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prince-harry-departs-london-24-hours-after-arriving-to-see-king-charles-iii-amid-cancer-battle\/\" title=\"Prince Harry leaves London after just one day to visit King Charles III during his cancer fight\">perceived differences<\/a> in the text are due to improved biblical scholarship,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblica.com\/resources\/bible-faqs\/why-does-the-niv-bible-omit-or-have-missing-verses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page<\/a> on its Bible FAQ reads.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee on Bible Translation issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/s45600.pcdn.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/2011-Translation-Notes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> on the changes made in the NIV version. \u201cIt\u2019s important to stress that about 95% of the text of the updated NIV is exactly the same as the<br \/> 1984 text it replaces,\u201d it reads.
