Zwonitzer told investigators that he deleted \u200cthe recordings due to concerns about\u2062 them being hacked and spreading \u200cpublicly. He \u200bmaintained that\u2063 he has habitually \u200ddeleted recordings as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-time-to-abolish-state-of-the-union-speeches-once-and-for-all\/\" title=\"It\u2019s Time To Abolish \u2018State Of The Union\u2019 Speeches Once And For All\">general rule<\/a> and retained transcripts of the interviews. Reports from Axios and The Wall Street Journal highlight that these recordings contained Biden\u2063 admitting to\u2062 having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mainstream-media-and-big-techs-seismic-shift-to-the-left\/\" title=\"Mainstream Media and Big Tech\u2019s Seismic Shift to the Left\">classified material<\/a> at his residence and discussing\u2062 it with an unauthorized person. Investigators suggested that Zwonitzer&#8217;s actions could be perceived as an attempt to protect Biden from the probe.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The ghostwriter of President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden\u2019s<\/a> memoir told federal investigators that he deleted audio recordings of his interview with Biden after learning that a special counsel was appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice to launch a criminal investigation into Biden\u2019s handling of classified information.<\/p>\n<p>Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/14\/biden-ghostwriter-deleted-recordings-special-counsel-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that writer Mark Zwonitzer told federal authorities that he deleted the recordings after Special Counsel Robert Hur was appointed to investigate Biden because he feared the recordings getting out into the public domain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was very concerned about the possibility of being hacked,\u201d he claimed, according to a partial transcript of his interview with investigators. \u201cI was very concerned about the possibility of this audio spread all over the place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that he saved the transcripts of what Biden allegedly said and that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/special-counsel-bidens-classified-documents-mishandling-doesnt-warrant-charges\/\" title=\"Biden's mishandling of classified documents not deemed charge-worthy by Special Counsel\">deleting audio recordings<\/a> was \u201csomething \u2026 I do as a \u2026 rule anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/merrick-garland-special-counsel-justice-department-under-fire-4608467b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> earlier this month that Attorney General Merrick Garland was stunned when he learned about Biden\u2019s conduct during the interview, that the then-vice president admitted on a recording to having classified material in his house and was discussing that material with someone who was not authorized to receive it.<\/p>\n<p>According to the transcript, investigators said to Zwonitzer that the average outside observer is going to look at what he did and conclude that his actions were spurred by wanting to protect Biden from investigators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I assume \u2014 and it\u2019s okay, I just need the truth on this one, but there\u2019s some truth in that, that was what was going on,\u201d investigators said. \u201cThat was part of your motivation, at least something you were aware of when you did this?\u201d\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zwonitzer responded: \u201cI\u2019m not going to say how much of the percentage it was of my motivation.
