Currently,\u2064 Republicans hold a \u200bsupermajority in both chambers and have dominated Floridian politics \u200dsince the 1990s. Republicans currently have a supermajority in both chambers of the Sunshine State\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/state-legislatures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"legislature\">legislature<\/a> and have maintained control of both chambers since the 1990s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats made history in Florida today,\u201d Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Nikki Fried said in a statement on Friday. \u201cThis is unprecedented. Since control of Florida flipped in the mid-90s, no party has contested every seat in both chambers of the legislature. For the first time in at least 30 years, Florida Democrats are contesting every congressional and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/impossible-gop-picked-up-seats-in-house-picked-up-state-legislatures-picked-up-governorship-held-the-senate-but-sniffy-joe-won-not-a-chance\/\" title=\"IMPOSSIBLE: GOP Picked Up Seats in House, Picked Up State Legislatures, Picked Up Governorship, Held the Senate -- But Sniffy Joe Won?... Now, we have the momentum,\u201d Fried said.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2022 election, Republicans gained their supermajorities in both chambers and every statewide GOP candidate won their election by double-digits, with the worst performing candidate being Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-cheri-bustos-diverts-post-office-aid-cash-to-own-campaign\/\" title=\"Dem Cheri Bustos Diverts Post Office Aid Cash to Own Campaign\">won reelection<\/a> to his U.S. Senate seat by 16.4% \u2014 or 1,273,325 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Another negative development for Democrats has been vote registration numbers. For the first time in the state\u2019s history, the Republican Party became the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reality-tv-can-serve-a-purpose-but-last-week-it-failed\/\" title=\"Reality TV Can Serve A Purpose, But Last Week, It Failed\">popular party<\/a> by registered voters in 2021 and since then the GOP lead has grown to a 930,671 advantage, according to the Florida Secretary of State\u2019s latest data from the end of May.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power dismissed the \u201cmoral victory\u201d for Democrats, saying the GOP is \u201cfocused on winning\u201d and dismissing one of the Democrat\u2019s recruits as being a carpetbagger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving a person who lives in Tallahassee running in Miami isn\u2019t going to boost turnout. As I have said before the @FloridaGOP is focused on winning not moral victories or a participation trophy,\u201d Power <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EvanPower\/status\/1801678785688863009\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">wrote<\/a> in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have expressed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3013038\/democrats-believe-abortion-florida-play-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"optimism\">optimism<\/a> that abortion on the ballot, with Ballot Measure 4 seeking to enshrine abortion through viability into the state\u2019s constitution, can buoy them to upsets in several races, including the presidential election and the race for Sen. Rick Scott\u2019s (R-FL) seat in the Senate. Fielding a candidate in each state legislative district, while not necessarily leading to more wins in the state legislature, could help boost Democratic voter turnout for statewide contests.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.faupolling.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/mainstreet-fl-june-2024-public.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"poll\">poll<\/a> from Florida Atlantic University and Mainstreet Research shows vulnerability for both former President Donald Trump and Scott. Among likely voters, Trump\u2019s lead fell from a 51%-43% advantage in April to a 49%-43% lead over President Joe Biden in June. In the same June survey, Scott holds a 45%-43% advantage over Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell.<\/p>\n<p>Although the polls have caused some Democratic optimism, the <em>RealClearPolitics<\/em> polling average does show the recent survey is an outlier.
