Evans is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/john-macarthur-calls-on-u-s-pastors-to-preach-on-biblical-sexuality-on-jan-16-in-response-to-new-canadian-law\/\" title=\"John MacArthur Calls On U.S. Pastors To Preach On Biblical Sexuality On Jan. 16 In Response To New Canadian Law\">longtime senior pastor<\/a> of the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/52-year-old-dallas-cowboys-hall-famer-dies-suddenly-vacation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas<\/a> \u2014 an author, speaker, radio host, and former chaplain for both the NFL\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/52-year-old-dallas-cowboys-hall-famer-dies-suddenly-vacation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and the NBA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-fans-leave-travis-kelce-stunned-viciously-boo-dallas-mavericks-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dallas Mavericks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocbfchurch.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/DrEvansStatementonWeb.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> posted on the church\u2019s website, the 74-year-old Evans wrote, \u201cThe foundation of our ministry has always been our commitment to the Word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which we are to conform our lives. When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God. I praise God for giving me the opportunity to witness his hand of power and blessing that took 10 people in a house and brought us to where we are today,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The church\u2019s elder board said in a statement that they are \u201cobligated to govern the church in accordance with the scriptures\u201d when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tragedy-strikes-pastors-family-6-year-old-suffers-freak-accident-playing-badminton-heard-screaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pastor<\/a> or elder \u201cfalls short of the high standards of scripture,\u201d according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>During Evans\u2019 absence, Associate Pastor Bobby Gibson will guide the church\u2019s ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember, you serve the Lord Jesus Christ, not a man,\u201d Evans told congregants, urging them to continue worship services.<\/p>\n<p>Evans said he intends to remain at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship as he goes through the restoration process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this season, I will be a worshiper like you and look forward to seeing all that God is going to continue doing to make his name great as we continue to build kingdom disciples, who function as kingdom servants, in order to make a kingdom impact as He advances His kingdom agenda at OCBF,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The 72-year-old pastor founded Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in 1976 with just 10 members meeting in a living room. But, by that same token, leaders are also human \u2014 subject to temptation and failure.<\/p>\n<p>Every time we see a leader fall, it should be a reminder that our faith is not in man but in God.<\/p>\n<p>The impact of a prominent leader\u2019s moral failure can be widespread and devastating to the Christian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fauci-finally-admits-everyone-already-knew-6-feet-covid-rule-humiliating-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">testimony<\/a>. As such, any process of repentance, accountability, and potential restoration must be undertaken with great wisdom and patience. Full reinstatement, if it occurs at all, should not come easily.<\/p>\n<p>We must, however, remember that regardless of the sin, if they have truly repented, they have full forgiveness in Christ, who purchased our salvation by His death on the cross.<\/p>\n<p>Even the most fallen sinner can be redeemed and restored to new life and purpose through genuine repentance.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the stain left on the testimony of the church every time a well-known leader sins is not so easily washed away.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
