The injunction affects\u200c four states: Louisiana, Mississippi, \u200cMontana, and Idaho.\u200b These states had challenged the administration&#8217;s \u2062rules, arguing they redefine discrimination\u200c in ways that undermine the original purpose of Title IX \u2014 to protect biological women from discrimination. \u200cThe \u200bblocked rules prohibit blanket bans on trans-identifying males in girls\u2019 sports \u2063and were supposed to take\u2063 effect in \u2062August. Over 20 states have \u200csued the administration, citing conflicts with local laws that restrict trans students\u2062 from participating\u200d in sports\u2063 or using facilities\u2063 that align with their\u200b gender identity. These regulations apply to schools that receive federal funding, although they are now blocked in the aforementioned \u200dstates.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>In a major blow to the Biden administration\u2019s new Title IX guidelines forcing public schools to allow trans-identifying males in girls\u2019 bathrooms and sports, a federal judge on Thursday blocked the rules in four states.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty, a Trump appointee, issued a preliminary <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.lawd.205659\/gov.uscourts.lawd.205659.53.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">injunction<\/a> against the rules, calling them an \u201cabuse of power\u201d by federal agencies and a \u201cthreat to democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The injunction blocks the rules in Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, and Idaho. Louisiana sued the administration in April, and the other three states joined the suit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTitle IX was written and intended to protect biological women from discrimination,\u201d Doughty wrote. \u201cSuch purpose makes it difficult to sincerely argue that, at the time of enactment, \u2018discrimination on the basis of sex\u2019 included gender identity, sex stereotypes, sexual orientation, or sex characteristics. Enacting the changes in the Final Rule would subvert the original purpose of Title IX: protecting biological females from discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the rules were announced, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/title-ix-transgender-sports-campus-sexual-assault-77f524b4ed8fcc2aecd5e863b0442bf4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more<\/a> than 20 states have joined lawsuits against the administration over its new Title IX rules, which <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/title-ix-transgender-bathroom-bans-645b5564ce227a9efe2c05f883609ae8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appear to conflict<\/a> with laws in several states restricting trans-identifying male students from playing on girls\u2019 teams or using girls\u2019 facilities.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Education Department unveiled the new Title IX regulations, which prohibit schools from enforcing blanket bans on trans-identifying males in girls\u2019 sports. The rules are set to take effect in August.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/about\/offices\/list\/ocr\/docs\/tix_dis.html\">Title IX<\/a> is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-sues-biden-admin-over-new-transgender-title-ix-rules\/\" title=\"Texas files lawsuit against Biden Administration over new Title IX rules for transgender individuals\">1972 federal civil rights law prohibiting sex-based discrimination<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-passes-anti-groomer-law-mischaracterized-as-dont-say-gay-bill-by-liberal-liars\/\" title=\"Florida Passes Anti-Groomer Law Mischaracterized as \u201cDon\u2019t Say Gay\u201d Bill by Liberal Liars\">schools receiving federal funding<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration\u2019s new regulations will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/more-states-file-flurry-of-lawsuits-against-biden-admin-over-transgender-title-ix-rules#\">apply<\/a> to all public K-12 schools, colleges, and universities that receive federal funding, excluding the four states where the rules have been blocked.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/news\/press-releases\/fact-sheet-us-department-educations-proposed-change-its-title-ix-regulations-students-eligibility-athletic-teams\">new rules<\/a> state that schools that receive federal funding may not ban biological males in girls\u2019 sports wholesale, but they may exclude them on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSex-related criteria\u201d at schools that would limit or ban a trans-identifying student from playing on the team of their preferred gender must meet two standards. Last year in North Carolina, a female high school volleyball player <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/female-high-school-volleyball-athlete-suffers-serious-head-injury-after-transgender-player-throws-abnormally-fast-ball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suffered<\/a> severe trauma to her head and neck after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/more-states-file-flurry-of-lawsuits-against-biden-admin-over-transgender-title-ix-rules\/\" title=\"Several States Sue Biden Administration Over Transgender Title IX Rules\">trans-identifying male player spiked<\/a> a volleyball that hit her head.<\/p>\n<p>Another example of an \u201cimportant educational objective\u201d\u00a0would be \u201cfairness in competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Female athletes at high schools and colleges in several states have spoken out against competing against biological males.<\/p>\n<p>After Thursday\u2019s ruling, the Education Department said it is reviewing the judge\u2019s order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Department stands by the final Title IX regulations released in April 2024, and we will continue to fight for every student,\u201d the department <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/title-ix-transgender-sports-campus-sexual-assault-77f524b4ed8fcc2aecd5e863b0442bf4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A federal judge blocked the Biden administration&#8217;s Title IX guidelines, which mandated public schools to permit trans-identifying males in girls&#8217; bathrooms and sports, in four states.
