Lastly, recent violent activities by\u200c Hezbollah and Hamas highlight the increasing necessity \u200bfor this report.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tim-scott\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Tim Scott<\/a> (R-SC) sent a letter Thursday to Treasury Secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/janet-yellen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Janet Yellen<\/a> raising concerns over the Biden administration\u2019s overdue report to Congress on Iranian assets blocked by U.S. sanctions. <\/p>\n<p>The Treasury Department\u2019s report was due to Congress on May 24 and is a requirement under a provision included in the since-passed $95 billion national security supplemental package, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/2977573\/biden-hails-95-billion-national-security-bill-passage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Treasury Department\">which cleared the Senate<\/a> in April. The report is intended to detail all of Iran\u2019s assets outside of the oil-rich country, as well as details about any sanctions. To Scott, the report will ensure members of Congress have the necessary information about the murderous Iranian regime, potentially to craft legislation aimed at curbing the influence of Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCountering the terror activities of the Iranian regime and its proxies through use of our economic and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-signs-cryptocurrency-executive-order-looking-to-develop-digital-dollar-and-crack-down-on-national-security-threats\/\" title=\"Biden Signs Cryptocurrency Executive Order, Looking To Develop Digital Dollar And Crack Down On National Security Threats\">national security tools<\/a> has been one of my top priorities as the Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee,\u201d Scott wrote in the letter to Yellen. \u201cAs Iran and its proxies remain active in attacking our own servicemembers and our allies, Israel in particular, this information is even more critical.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Congress, Scott wrote in the letter, \u201cneeds this report to better inform legislation responding to the Iran regime\u2019s financing of its terror activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The request for the report comes as Iranian proxies in the Middle East, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hezbollah\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hezbollah<\/a> in Lebanon, escalate violence against the Jewish state of Israel. Hamas, the Iran-backed terrorist group controlling the Gaza Strip, killed over 1,200 people in Israel during its Oct. 7 attack last year and is still believed to be holding more than 100 hostages captive.
