Pelosi is hopeful for integrity from\u200b the \u2063opposition but underscores the necessity for a Democratic victory. \u2062She also expresses confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217;s role in preventing any attempts to undermine the election results by \u2063Republicans, should President Joe Biden win reelection.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nancy-pelosi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nancy Pelosi<\/a> (D-CA) understands most voters are more concerned about \u201ckitchen table issues\u201d than how the presidential transition will happen in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi wants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democrats<\/a> to gain the majority in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House<\/a> so that the certification of the Electoral College goes smoothly next year, but she said officials need to run on what is most important to voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to win for a lot of reasons,\u201d Pelosi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/06\/14\/pelosi-trump-elections-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> the <em>Washington Post<\/em>. \u201cWe have to win for the integrity of our electoral system. We have to win to save Social Security, Medicare, all of that. To save the Affordable Care Act, to protect the planet, to save our democracy, to protect our children from gun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many reasons why we need to win the election,\u201d Pelosi continued. \u201cI would hope that there will be some integrity on their side. But nonetheless, we have to win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/news-outlet-suggests-people-should-think-twice-before-using-words-like-brainstorm-spooky-and-blind-spot\/\" title=\"News Outlet Suggests People Should \u2018Think Twice\u2019 Before Using Words Like \u2018Brainstorm,\u2019 \u2018Spooky,\u2019 And \u2018Blind-Spot\u2019\">speaker doesn\u2019<\/a>t believe Republicans will \u201cengage in what they did last time\u201d if President Joe Biden wins reelection, but she also pointed to Vice President Kamala Harris as a bulwark against any effort by Republicans to negate the election results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRemember, we will have the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: 'Pipeline' to Obama Admin Seen as 'Currency'\">vice president<\/a> that day,\u201d Pelosi said. \u201cSo that\u2019s a safeguard, but we\u2019re always hopeful that patriotism, integrity, commitment to the Constitution will prevail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Pelosi\u2019s \u201ckitchen table issues,\u201d there\u2019s evidence voters do care about some of them, particularly Social Security. Democrats have accused former President Donald Trump of wanting to cut Social Security benefits, and Trump hinted at it himself before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/03\/14\/trump-social-security-medicare-00146953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>saying<\/a> he would not do anything to \u201cjeopardize\u201d the program or Medicare.<\/p>\n<p>A 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/social-security-medicare-cuts-ap-poll-biden-9e7395e8efeab68063d741beac6ef24b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a> saw that 79% of people oppose reducing the size of Social Security benefits, and 67% are against raising monthly premiums for Medicare. The survey indicates that cutting the program would be highly unpopular, and Pelosi has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/nancy-pelosi-warns-gop-republicans-will-cut-social-security-message-voters-1758059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>framed<\/a> the GOP as wanting to cut Social Security in the past.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Republicans hold a 218-213 majority in the House, and Democrats hold a de facto 51-49 majority in the Senate with four independents who caucus with the party.<\/p>\n<p>The GOP appears favored to retain the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/house-race-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House<\/a> majority, needing to capture wins in about eight of the 22 toss-up races listed by <em>Cook Political Report<\/em> to get to 218 seats, as 210 seats are \u201clean,\u201d \u201clikely,\u201d or \u201csolid\u201d Republican.
