Kevin Cramer (R-ND) said. \u201cHe would like to tell you that was incredible research and policy discussion. But the secret is he got it from a waitress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) confirmed the telling of Trump\u2019s tale.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment about when or how the candidate formulated the idea. <\/p>\n<p>At a campaign rally in Las Vegas over the weekend, Trump pledged to Nevada voters he would eliminate federal taxes on tipped wages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHotel workers and people that get tips, you\u2019re going to be very happy because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips,\u201d Trump said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to do that right away, first thing in office.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Former President Donald Trump motions after speaking at a campaign rally on Sunday, June 9, 2024, in Las Vegas. (AP Photo\/John Locher)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The IRS proposed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irs.gov\/newsroom\/irs-introduces-new-service-industry-tip-reporting-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>new wage reporting program<\/a> last year for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-everyone-can-intermittent-fast-heres-why\/\" title=\"Not Everyone Can Intermittent Fast, Here\u2019s Why\">service industry workers<\/a> who heavily rely on tips, causing an uproar from Republican lawmakers that low- and middle-income taxpayers could be targeted for audits after Democrats in 2022 approved billions in new funding to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>The Service Industry Tip Compliance Agreement would be voluntary to replace other reporting programs between the IRS and service industry employers. The proposal would use tips reported through point-of-sale systems and electronic payment methods \u201cto improve tip reporting compliance,\u201d according to the agency.<\/p>\n<p>IRS officials have said the vast majority of new tax enforcement via audits will be directed toward the wealthiest people in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-biden-calls-for-higher-taxes-lawmakers-commemorate-40th-anniversary-of-reagan-tax-cuts\/\" title=\"As Biden Calls For Higher Taxes, Lawmakers Commemorate 40th Anniversary Of Reagan Tax Cuts\">highest tax bracket<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Trump] said, \u2018I\u2019d love everybody to believe that this was real expensive, intense research, that we did,\u2019\u201d Cramer recalled Trump saying. \u201c[The waitress] said, \u2018They\u2019re coming after my tips,\u2019 and he said, \u2018Really?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cramer said the topic came up during the meeting because Sen.
