This\u2063 meeting was his \u2062first visit \u2063to Capitol Hill since \u2062the January 6, 2021, riot. \u200cThe negative comment about Milwaukee, a key city in an \u2062<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rhodes-rage\/\" title=\"Rhodes Rage\">important swing state<\/a> for Trump&#8217;s potential reelection bid, was alleged to have been made in the context of discussing the city\u2019s issues such as violent crime\u2062 and voter fraud. However, Trump&#8217;s campaign insists the \u2064report\u200b by reporter Jake Sherman is inaccurate,\u200b stating \u200dTrump\u2063 was not personally in attendance at the meeting and that his comments were\u2064 misrepresented. The Associated\u2062 Press also reported on the use of the word &#8220;horrible&#8221; by Trump\u2063 in relation to Milwaukee, with additional context provided by eyewitnesses from the meeting.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> campaign blasted a report that he referred to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/milwaukee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Milwaukee<\/a>, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republicans<\/a> will have their convention next month, as a \u201chorrible city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump reportedly bashed the Democrat-run city during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ny-gov-cuomo-shunned-experts-embraced-lobbyists-drove-top-health-officials-to-quit-over-pandemic-response-report\/\" title=\"NY Gov. Cuomo Shunned Experts, Embraced Lobbyists, Drove Top Health Officials To Quit Over Pandemic Response: Report\">closed-door meeting<\/a> with Republicans in Washington, D.C., when he returned to Capitol Hill for the first time since the Jan. 6, 2021, riot. During the meeting, the former president was asked about the city in an important swing state he will need to win as he attempts to return to the White House. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a desperate attempt to get likes, Fake News Jake Sherman, who wasn\u2019t even in the room, falsely claimed that President Trump called Milwaukee a \u2018horrible city.\u2019 It\u2019s a total lie,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/truth-former-ohio-treasurer-and-2022-senatorial-candidate-josh-mandel-claims-2020-election-stolen-from-trump\/\" title=\"TRUTH: Former Ohio Treasurer and 2022 Senatorial Candidate Josh Mandel Claims 2020 Election Stolen from Trump\">campaign press release<\/a> said. \u201cPresident Trump was explicitly referring to the problems in Milwaukee,\u00a0specifically\u00a0violent crime and voter fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Associated Press<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-milwaukee-horrible-city-gop-convention-niomination-604fe33acb5606e9db1cbf3f966507e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reported<\/a> that the word \u201chorrible\u201d was used by Trump to talk about Milwaukee. Republicans who were a part of the meeting didn\u2019t give a consensus response to whether he did or didn\u2019t call Milwaukee \u201ca horrible city.\u201d Some suggested it was taken out of context, while others denied the report entirely.<\/p>\n<p>  Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI) told WISN-TV in Milwaukee that Trump was referring to election integrity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s where the comment came from, that Milwaukee\u2019s just terrible,\u201d Fitzgerald said. \u201cWhat he was talking about was the elections in Milwaukee, his concerns about them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another House Republican, Rep. Bryan Steil (R-WI), denied it outright.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in the room,\u201d Steil posted on X. \u201cPresident Trump did not say this. There is no better place than Wisconsin in July.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Trump campaign told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that Jake Sherman, who reported the information, wasn\u2019t in the room and that his claim was wrong. The campaign says the framing of Trump\u2019s remarks, that he said, \u201cMilwaukee, where we are having our convention, is a horrible city,\u201d were \u201ccompletely false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The campaign pointed to a question Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) posed about crime and election fraud in Milwaukee and her remark \u201che said that those things are horrible. What\u2019s happening in that city is horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t just randomly say, \u2018It\u2019s a horrible city.\u2019 He was answering a question about the problems that are plaguing the city and described them as horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democrats used the report to tear into Trump.
