Dave Joyce of Ohio, opposed \u200bthe measure which \u2062was aimed at punishing Garland for not providing audio from a classified documents investigation involving\u200b President Joe\u2064 Biden. Despite 216 Republicans voting \u200cin favor, Joyce aligned with 206 Democrats in rejecting the\u2062 resolution, citing a refusal to \u200dpoliticize the judiciary \u200djust to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/roseanne-barr-hits-the-bullseye-with-assessment-of-soy-induced-frail-boy-david-hogg\/\" title=\"Roseanne Barr nails it with her critique of David Hogg as a \"soy-induced frail boy.\"\">score\u200b political points<\/a>. The House Republicans were seeking \u2064audio tapes of interviews\u200b conducted by special counsel Robert Hur with Biden and his ghostwriter, which were\u2064 believed \u2062necessary for\u2063 thorough\u2064 oversight \u2062despite already having obtained transcripts. The contempt \u200bproceedings \u200bfollowed after President\u2064 Biden asserted executive privilege over the tapes.\u2063 Democrats argue that these\u2063 Republican actions are politically motivated. Garland&#8217;s\u200d agency\u200c has indicated that releasing\u2063 the audio \u200ccould obstruct future investigations.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The only House Republican to oppose a resolution to hold Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/merrick-garland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Merrick Garland<\/a> in contempt of Congress in a clash over audio from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/four-mccarthy-holdouts-get-top-house-committee-seats\/\" title=\"Four McCarthy Holdouts Get Top House Committee Seats\">classified documents probe<\/a> against President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> said, \u201cEnough is enough,\u201d after the vote on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) broke ranks and <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/Votes\/2024260\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joined<\/a> 206 Democrats in voting against the measure designed to rebuke Garland for refusing to comply with two subpoenas. The resolution <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-votes-to-hold-garland-in-contempt-for-withholding-biden-docs-case-audio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed<\/a> with the support of 216 Republicans. Eight others did not vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a former prosecutor, I cannot in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-tuck-female-draft-into-defense-bill\/\" title=\"Democrats Tuck Female Draft Into Defense Bill\">good conscience support<\/a> a resolution that would further politicize our judicial system to score political points,\u201d Joyce <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AndrewSolender\/status\/1800993826602967454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in a statement explaining his vote. \u201cThe American people expect Congress to work for them, solve policy problems, and prioritize good governance. Enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The subpoenas demanded tapes of special counsel Robert Hur\u2019s two-day interview with Biden and of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/roger-stone-announces-he-will-sue-those-who-arrested-him-and-put-him-in-front-of-a-kangaroo-court\/\" title=\"Roger Stone Announces He Will Sue Those Who Arrested Him and Put Him In Front of a Kangaroo Court\">special counsel\u2019<\/a>s interview with Biden\u2019s ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, after the release of a report describing Biden as an \u201celderly man with a poor memory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>House Republicans managed to obtain transcripts of the interviews, but they said they still needed the audio to conduct oversight and pushed forward with contempt of Congress proceedings after Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-asserts-executive-privilege-over-tapes-in-docs-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asserted<\/a> executive privilege over the tapes. Democrats in the House have claimed the actions of their GOP colleagues are tainted by politics.<\/p>\n<p>Garland, whose agency said that sharing the audio would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/garland-under-threat-of-contempt-calls-house-gops-request-for-biden-tapes-illegitimate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impede future investigations<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4718115-garland-contempt-doj-memo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insisted<\/a> the attorney general is shielded from prosecution because of privilege, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4718951-merrick-garland-contempt-partisan-weapon\/#:~:text=Attorney%20General%20Merrick%20Garland%20accused,authority%20into%20a%20partisan%20weapon.\">said<\/a> the House turned \u201ca serious congressional authority into a partisan weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1712932862202000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0plT8RRdMy9XUpIhocnjQS\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>He added in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/statement-attorney-general-merrick-b-garland-3\">statement<\/a>, \u201cToday\u2019s vote disregards the constitutional separation of powers, the Justice Department\u2019s need to protect its investigations, and the substantial amount of information we have provided to the Committees. I will always stand up for this Department, its employees, and its vital mission to defend our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While it appears unlikely the Department of Justice under the Biden administration will take up a contempt of Congress case that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/garland-contempt-biden-classified-documents-justice-department-bc2fb71b225ae672eb257ee2055cfa67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could result in Garland facing<\/a> up to a year of prison time and as much as $100,000 in fines, there may yet be steps taken by the GOP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the DOJ has not indicted him by June 25, I will call a vote to hold him in inherent contempt of Congress, and he will be forced to produce the recordings or be held by the Sergeant at Arms,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepLuna\/status\/1800996212218138997\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">warned<\/a> Rep.
