Neighbors and witnesses have expressed their concerns about the safety of this particular intersection, emphasizing its dangers especially for\u200d those who are not able to move quickly.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 13, 2024 at 7:35am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>An 86-year-old pedestrian was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a New York Department of Transportation vehicle in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n<p>The man was crossing 92nd Street near Dahlgren Place when he was hit, with the force of the impact severing his head from his body, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/12\/us-news\/pedestrian-86-horrifically-decapitated-after-being-hit-by-city-truck-in-brooklyn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police did not release the driver\u2019s name but said he is 31.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brooklyn.news12.com\/nypd-identifies-86-year-old-man-fatally-struck-by-dot-truck-in-bay-ridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News 12<\/a> reported Thursday that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/khalid-yagobbi-arrested-murder-allegedly-plowing-car-pedestrians-fbi-responds-scene\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victim<\/a> was Antonio Conigliaro. It turns on but by the time you\u2019re in the middle of the road, then it\u2019s gone,\u201d Samia Haq of Bay Ridge said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody who is disabled or somebody who cannot walk fast \u2014 it\u2019s really, really dangerous for them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is New York City a dangerous place?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>News 12 reported that surveillance video showed Conigliaro walking in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woman-crosswalk-hit-killed-police-officer-responding-high-priority-call\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crosswalk<\/a> when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can tell you it\u2019s a dangerous intersection,\u201d Bay Ridge resident Sean McMahon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody is always trying to jump the lights to make the turn to get onto the expressway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">FATAL ACCIDENT: A man was struck and killed by a city Department of Transportation truck earlier today, according to officials. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nFrTzYLB2f\">https:\/\/t.co\/nFrTzYLB2f<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tOGTEsziHN\">pic.twitter.com\/tOGTEsziHN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 News12BK (@News12BK) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/News12BK\/status\/1801087158985298220?\">June 13, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Haq said she knows how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-u-haul-strikes-multiple-pedestrians-nyc-suspect-apprehended-surrounded-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dangerous the intersection<\/a> is because her mother was hit at the same place in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>She said her mother survived.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sent a message to my mom and I said, \u2018Mom I\u2019m so lucky to have you to this day.\u2019 It could\u2019ve been her too,\u201d Haq said.<\/p>\n<p>As of Thursday morning, no charges had been filed in connection with the man\u2019s death, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5ny.com\/news\/86-year-old-man-struck-killed-dot-truck-brooklyn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WNYW-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s Department of Transportation had no comment on the incident, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/19C1162E-4DEE-4485-883C-0E6360E76715\/PIX11%20News%20contacted%20the%20Department%20of%20Transportation,%20but%20officials%20were%20not%20immediately%20available%20to%20comment.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WPIX-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
