Perhaps most surprisingly, this surge in seats won was fueled not only by traditional older conservatives but also by younger voters who have sought to rekindle the spirit of nationalism within their homelands.<\/p>\n<p>Before the European Parliament elections, 32 percent of French 18-to-25-year-olds said they\u2019d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/europe-young-people-right-wing-voters-far-right-politics-eu-elections-parliament\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vote<\/a> for the \u201cfar right\u201d National Rally party, closely reflecting the eventual election outcome. Led by Marine Le Pen, \u201cthe National Rally party is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/france-election-lepen-farright-conservatives-1911754\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on course to win<\/a> 31.5 percent of the vote\u2014more than twice the 14.7 percent projected for [French President Emmanuel] Macron\u2019s liberal Renaissance party.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1358497480\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-07ad72e519d8e3110bfd283aa7c0a8cd fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-07ad72e519d8e3110bfd283aa7c0a8cd\"><\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, Germany\u2019s AfD party secured better-than-expected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/germanys-far-right-makes-strong-gains-eu-vote-despite-scandals-2024-06-09\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">results<\/a>, coming in second in Germany\u2019s EU parliamentary election, winning nearly 16 percent of the vote. Notably, AfD gained significant ground among younger voters, surging 12 percentage points to 17 percent among 16-24-year-olds.<\/p>\n<p>This political earthquake felt in France and Germany is not an isolated incident within these two countries. Feelings of Euroscepticism and discontent over immigration are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/my-europe\/2024\/03\/26\/half-of-europeans-disapprove-of-eu-migration-policy-and-demand-stronger-border-controls-po\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rising<\/a> all across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>While a \u201ccentrist\u201d (meaning leftist) pro-EU majority remains in firm control of the European Parliament, members of the Western ruling class are quickly realizing that the backlash against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-football-analogy-to-explain-democrats-election-cheating\/\" title=\"A Football Analogy to Explain Democrats' Election Cheating\">globalist agenda<\/a>, put into motion shortly after World War II, is escaping leftist containment and steadily growing.<\/p>\n<p>This should surprise no one. We saw the first strong signs of this immune response to globalism in 2016 when Britain voted to leave the European Union. Yet ruling class members on both the left and right within the United Kingdom did not heed the message their voters sent as immigration surged.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-277982b2288ad0c45a278990c2cbce48 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-277982b2288ad0c45a278990c2cbce48\"><\/div>\n<p>One of the major promises of Brexit was to regain control of England\u2019s borders, yet the number of legal arrivals has nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/commonslibrary.parliament.uk\/research-briefings\/sn06077\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doubled<\/a> since Brexit. This surge has fueled a significant rise in anti-immigration protests by individuals desperate to preserve their culture and heritage. As a consequence, the Conservative Party in the U.K., which has been the primary governing party since 2010, is now set for historic <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6974282\/uk-conservatives-losses-tipped-local-polls-labour-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">losses<\/a> ahead of the July 4 national elections due in part to its failure to control its borders.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, according to leftist media, the rise of so-called \u201cfar-right\u201d populism, manifesting itself through legitimate electoral wins, is positioned as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/05\/world\/europe\/europe-far-right.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threat<\/a> to democracy. But this is a rhetorical sleight of hand.<\/p>\n<p>Democracy is not in danger. It\u2019s <em>their<\/em> \u201cdemocracy\u201d that\u2019s threatened as the right is beginning to flex its political muscles \u2014 finally acting as legitimate opposition to the status quo dominated by an establishment left <em>and<\/em> right that look and behave in a very similar fashion.<\/p>\n<p>When liberals use the word \u201cdemocracy,\u201d they don\u2019t mean the will of the voters. Rather, the word <em>democracy <\/em>is used as a substitute for leftist hegemony, or as Curtis Yarvin <a href=\"https:\/\/thecharliekirkshow.com\/podcasts\/the-charlie-kirk-show\/the-real-way-to-dismantle-the-deep-state-with-curt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a>, \u201cWhen they say democracy, they mean oligarchy.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ddbcb0e969519ad63caafe6d477128dc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ddbcb0e969519ad63caafe6d477128dc\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cTraditional\u201d conservatives and \u201ccentrist\u201d leftists both share the same immigration policy. That\u2019s part of why the left is terrified of legitimate right-wing opposition as opposed to the traditional \u201copposition in-name-only\u201d conservatism they are accustomed to defeating. In a recent New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/05\/world\/europe\/europe-far-right.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">analysis<\/a> titled \u201cJust How Dangerous Is Europe\u2019s Rising Far Right?\u201d author Roger Cohen alluded to the failure of leftist political containment strategies,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross Europe, the far right is becoming <em>the<\/em> right, absent any compelling message from traditional conservative parties. If \u2018far\u2019 suggests outlier, it has become a misnomer. Not only have the parties of an anti-immigrant right surged, they have seen the barriers that once kept them out crumble as they are absorbed into the arc of Western democracies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Much to the dismay of liberal elites, authoritarian \u201cbarriers\u201d in the form of \u201chate speech\u201d legislation, social stigmatization, corporate media exclusion, and outright censorship are proving ineffective because the reality of deteriorating social and economic conditions, due in part to mass migration across the West, is too great to ignore.
