Hundreds of doctors, researchers, and healthcare workers,\u2064 together with leaders across \u200dthe U.S., emphasize the adverse effects \u200bof \u200dcurrent protocols promoted by \u2064major U.S. \u2063medical organizations, contrasting them with \u200brecent,\u200d more cautious approaches taken by\u200d European counterparts. \u200bThis stance follows revelations \u200bfrom the Cass Review by the British NHS\u200c and\u2062 leaked WPATH files, highlighting no\u200c proven benefits and potential\u200c harms, \u2063including reduced bone density from puberty blockers. The \u2064declaration has garnered widespread\u200d support from health professionals,\u200b advocating adherence to\u200c ethical medical principles and emphasizing \u2062the need for honest approaches to address gender dysphoria.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Last week, pediatricians, doctors, and medical organizations from across the country joined forces, urging all U.S. medical personnel to stop experimentation and abuse of children under the guise of transgender treatment.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/doctorsprotectingchildren.org\/\">\u201cDoctors Protecting Children Declaration,\u201d<\/a> authored by the American College of Pediatricians (ACPEDS), was a collaborative effort relying on the expertise of hundreds of doctors, researchers, health-care workers, and leaders who \u201cfor years have been sounding the alarm on the harmful protocols that continue to be promoted by the medical organizations within the United States,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/acpeds.org\/about\/meet-our-board\/jill-simons-md\">ACPEDS Executive Director Jill Simons, MD,<\/a> at a <a href=\"https:\/\/doctorsprotectingchildren.org\/\">June 6 press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2075287557\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d9adfaca9476f77feb6e97bec530e9fc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d9adfaca9476f77feb6e97bec530e9fc\"><\/div>\n<p>The American Academy of Pediatrics, Endocrine Society, Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry need to \u201cfollow the science\u201d their European colleagues are finally acknowledging \u201cand immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex,\u201d Simons said. \u201c[We are] defying the claims made by these medical organizations in the U.S. that those of us who are concerned are a minority, and that their protocols are consensus. They are not consensus and we are speaking in a loud unified voice, \u2018Enough.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admitted Failures and Harm<\/h2>\n<p>Representing thousands of health-care workers in more than 50 countries, the declaration comes on the heels of the April release of the nearly 400-page <a href=\"https:\/\/donoharmmedicine.org\/2024\/04\/11\/cass-report-slams-gender-affirming-care-model\/?gad_source=1&#038;gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVLUtp7XaKhAJaMffFZR6eWxge8s7Mh7yPkYQ1ZeKgk6mFZHT3G_-YxoCGeAQAvD_BwE\">Cass Review<\/a>, an extensive and independent review of gender services for children commissioned by the British National Health Service. The findings were glaring: no evidence of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/researcher-debunks-claim-trans-youths-mental-health-improves-with-gender-affirming-care\/\" title=\"Researcher Debunks Claim Trans Youth\u2019s Mental Health Improves With \u2018Gender Affirming\u2019 Care\">positive mental health outcomes<\/a> for children who socially \u201ctransitioned;\u201d social transitioning led to increased medical interventions; puberty blockers reduced bone density in youth and led to no improvements in gender dysphoria or body satisfaction; most long-term negative outcomes are yet to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of this and the recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncregister.com\/cna\/wpath-files-transgender-pseudoscience\">leaked WPATH files<\/a> exposing the dangerous pseudoscience base for gender medicine, some U.S. medical organizations have not changed course, Simons said. With \u201cclearly laid out evidence that these procedures are harmful and not helpful,\u201d Simons and her colleagues had expected gender-transition practitioners to take a step back from current protocols, but instead they have \u201cdoubled down and said they\u2019re going to continue with what they\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The majority of health-care workers do not adhere to transgender treatment ideology, and attempts to silence and isolate the majority cannot continue, Simons said. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-237bc75ae44da0d776c7eec17de6fcdb fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-237bc75ae44da0d776c7eec17de6fcdb\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe are leaders in health care and if not us, then who? We are going to protect children,\u201d Simons said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coalition of Co-Signers<\/h2>\n<p>Declaration co-signers represent thousands of doctors and health-care workers within various medical and policy organizations. Several spoke at the June 6 press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGender dysphoria is a diagnosis, whereas transgenderism is an ideology,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/cmda.org\/andre-van-mol-md\/\">Andre Van Mol, MD,<\/a> a private practice physician experienced in bioethics. \u201cSystematic literature reviews done in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, and Germany show that so<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-making-calif-transgender-sanctuary-state-advances\/\" title=\"Bill making Calif. transgender sanctuary state advances\">-called gender-affirming health care<\/a> is out of step with the evidence base for gender dysphoric youth. Transition affirmation is not proven to be safe or effective long term. It does not reduce suicides, it does not repair mental health issues or trauma. Minors cannot give truly informed consent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Physicians take an oath to do no harm, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-announce-new-transgender-service-member-policies-on-international-transgender-day-of-visibility-everything-you-need-to-know\/\" title=\"Pentagon Announce New Transgender Service Member Policies On \u2018International Transgender Day Of Visibility\u2019: Everything You Need To Know\">transgender health care<\/a> is documented to lead to harm, he said: \u201cThere is always a more honest way to deal with gender confusion than the chemical sterilization and surgical mutilation of healthy young bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ead0e189826f94d2ae3d027d28e1bd5a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ead0e189826f94d2ae3d027d28e1bd5a\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe protocols currently being pushed on children and adolescents violate the fundamental precepts of Hippocratic medicine, which is to prescribe regimen for the good of the patient and ultimately to do no harm,\u201d\u00a0said Erika LeBaron, a family medicine physician and Association of American Physicians and Surgeons president-elect. \u201cIt\u2019s past time for our profession to end harm being done and instead provide care to children that is both rooted in science and the principles of medical ethics and that put patients, not political ideology, first.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Permissive Administration<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cProtecting the life, health, and dignity of patients, especially children, should be the primary concern of federal and state health care laws and regulations,\u201d said Louis Brown, attorney and vice president of public policy at the Catholic Health Care Leadership Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>Those protections have been distorted under the current presidential administration. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services\u2019 (HHS) recent regulation under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/civil-rights\/for-individuals\/section-1557\/index.html#:~:text=Section%201557%20of%20the%20Affordable%20Care%20Act%20(ACA)%20requires%20covered,languages%20for%20providers%20to%20use.\">Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act<\/a> that attempts to \u201cunlawfully mandate gender transitioning and related procedures in our country\u2019s health care system \u2026 is outrageous,\u201d Brown said. \u201cThis regulation endangers the health of children, undermines parental rights, and unlawfully exceeds HHS\u2019 statutory authority. The rule also violates the medical conscience of rights of medical professionals and health care entities who have sound medical and conscience objections to performing or facilitating unethical practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If HHS refuses to withdraw the regulation, Congress is obligated to pass legislation to stop these coercive, harmful interventions done on children, he said.
