Sylvia Garcia (D-TX), Delia Ramirez (D-IL), Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) held a press conference with a group of Dreamers on Wednesday, marking the 12th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3029392\/border-crossing-levels-unchanged-day-biden-executive-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>new executive order<\/a> aimed to limit the number of migrant crossings of the southern border, the group of Democrats is pushing for the administration to launch another round of executive orders to create some balance between the strict immigration crackdown and immigrant rights.<\/p>\n<p>The matter is a personal one for Ramirez. Her husband could face deportation if protections are not extended for Dreamers. The Illinois representative warned of dire consequences for Biden if he sticks with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-the-biden-administration-is-politicizing-the-military\/\" title=\"How the Biden Administration is Politicizing the Military\">restrictive immigration policies<\/a> without balancing it by creating legal pathways for immigrants such as her husband.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf neither [candidate] is going to deliver, then I\u2019m in a really frustrating place, and don\u2019t blame me if you lose this election,\u201d Ramirez said, speaking with reporters following the press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think people need to do what is right for them,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s really difficult for me to tell someone that I\u2019m going to keep promising you and begging you to vote for someone that can\u2019t deliver. I take it very personal. They didn\u2019t work under Trump, and they are not going to work under this administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of wasting valuable time, pushing Trump-era policies, our president should provide relief to Dreamers and other unauthorized immigrants living in our country,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Garcia and other members of the CHC presented a variety of reforms during a meeting with the president at the White House last month, including efforts to grant new labor protections and legal rights to undocumented farmworkers, expand work permits to more immigrants, shield the undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens, and apply protections to Dreamers. They also want Biden to create a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas congresswoman said she believes the Biden administration could be working toward implementing some of the reforms her group advocated during their meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s already been some follow-up meetings with members of my team on a couple of the issues we\u2019ve raised,\u201d Garcia told the<em> Washington Examiner. <\/em>\u201cThe Congressional Hispanic Caucus raised three to five solid executive order options that we think he clearly has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden has signaled more action could be coming after unveiling the new executive order last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, I have spoken about what we need to do to secure the border,\u201d Biden said on June 4. \u201cIn the weeks ahead, and I mean the weeks ahead, I will speak to how we can make our immigration system more fair and more just.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, a pathway to citizenship has been controversial for decades, especially among many Republicans who continue to characterize the policy as \u201camnesty.\u201d That is why some Democrats are emphasizing it\u2019s time for Biden to work unilaterally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know the realities of the makeup of Congress right now,\u201d Padilla said. \u201cWe urge President Biden to exercise that authority. He has the executive authority to provide relief for caregivers, for Dreamers, for DACA recipients, and the undocumented spouses of United States citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe can and he should, because the American dream is worth fighting for,\u201d Padilla added.<\/p>\n<p>Days after Biden\u2019s executive order was unveiled, eight men from Tajikistan suspected of having ties to ISIS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3038544\/eight-men-arrested-suspicion-isis-ties-major-us-cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>were arrested<\/a> in major U.S. cities this past weekend. The men, who had reportedly crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally but were processed and released by the Border Patrol, were caught in a sting operation after they were flagged with \u201cnational security concerns, including ties to ISIS,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox29.com\/news\/8-suspected-terrorists-ties-isis-arrested-philly-nyc-la-fbi-sting-operation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according to<\/a> multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only thing more shocking than our unsecure southern border is that we haven\u2019t had a terror attack on our soil \u2014 yet,\u201d said Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), the chairman of the Senate Republicans\u2019 campaign arm during a Wednesday press conference. \u201cMake no mistake. It was Joe Biden who rolled back the successful Trump policies that kept this nation and our southern border much safer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was Joe Biden who made the border a lot more unsecure, and it was Senate Democrats who enabled him for the past 3 1\/2 years,\u201d Daines added.<\/p>\n<p>However, some Democrats are pushing back, emphasizing that they do not believe Biden\u2019s latest executive order is the appropriate way to respond.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, there\u2019s always concerns on border,\u201d Ramirez said. \u201cI think that\u2019s exactly why a number of us continue to say we don\u2019t have proper staffing at the border.
