Speaking \u200bon &#8220;CNN\u200d NewsNight&#8221; with host Abby Phillip, Stelter responded to comments by MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow, who feared that Trump \u2062might establish camps for his critics and political adversaries. Stelter labeled Maddow&#8217;s \u2063fears \u200das &#8220;speculative\u2064 non-fiction,&#8221; \u2063suggesting that while speculative, it is \u200bplausible \u200dgiven Trump&#8217;s historically adversarial relationship with the press.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Former CNN media reporter Brian Stelter expressed his concern during a Tuesday evening interview on his old network, telling \u201cCNN NewsNight\u201d host Abby Phillip that he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-bidens-sister-to-cash-in-on-his-presidency-with-new-memoir\/\" title=\"Joe Biden\u2019s Sister to Cash in on His Presidency With New Memoir\">expected media<\/a> to be \u201cpunished\u201d if former President Donald Trump returned to the White House.<\/p>\n<p>The former \u201cReliable Sources\u201d host was reacting to comments made by MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow about a second Trump term \u2014 namely that she worried Trump \u201cplans to build camps\u201d for his critics and political enemies.<\/p>\n<p>Stelter referred to Maddow\u2019s claim as \u201cspeculative non-fiction\u201d but argued that it was reasonable to think that Trump \u2014 who has long had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/n-y-gov-cuomo-coming-under-fire-for-vaccine-rollout-alleged-covid-19-nursing-home-deaths-cover-up\/\" title=\"N.Y. Gov. Cuomo coming under fire for vaccine rollout, alleged COVID-19 nursing home deaths cover-up\">contentious relationship<\/a> with the press \u2014 might do something to retaliate against outlets with which he had a particular beef.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe use the words that Trump and his allies have said, and we use them to talk about the future. Jail, of course, is an extreme part of the spectrum. Think about government pressure on media companies. Think about other forms of government interference.
