He was 86-years-old.<\/p>\n<p>West, who played his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/shapiro-gina-carano-firing-part-of-a-movement-to-expel-half-of-america\/\" title=\"Shapiro: Gina Carano Firing Part Of A Movement To \u2018Expel\u2019 Half Of America\">entire career<\/a> with the Los Angeles Lakers, was an NBA all-star in each of his 14 seasons and won one championship in his nine NBA Finals appearances. The former Lakers guard was the third player in NBA history to reach 25,000 points and the only player to win a Finals MVP after losing the NBA championship. Of those 7, he &#038; LeBron are the only ones to make an All-Defensive 1st team. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vNWzwc3QC0\">pic.twitter.com\/vNWzwc3QC0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ballislife.com (@Ballislife) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ballislife\/status\/1800889448131072067?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 12, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>  The NBA mourned West\u2019s death with Commissioner Adam Silver releasing a statement on Wednesday, ESPN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/40333628\/nba-all-great-jerry-west-dies-age-86\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJerry West was a basketball genius and a defining figure in our league for more than 60 years,\u201d Silver said. \u201cHe distinguished himself not only as an NBA champion and an All-Star in all 14 of his playing seasons, but also as a consummate competitor who embraced the biggest moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI valued my friendship with Jerry and the knowledge he shared with me over many years about basketball and life,\u201d Silver added. \u201cOn behalf of the NBA, we send our deepest condolences to Jerry\u2019s wife, Karen, his family and his many friends in the NBA community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After his storied NBA playing career, West coached the Lakers from 1976 to 1979 and then became an NBA executive, helping build the dominant Lakers teams of the 1980s, which won five NBA titles with Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. West was also part of the front office, which put together the all-time great duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O\u2019Neal and hired head coach Phil Jackson.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1716990157394000&#038;usg=AOvVaw33qQydjIo8bet419amChif\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Later in his life, West advised the Los Angeles Clippers and worked in the front offices of the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors, ESPN reported.<\/p>\n<p>West\u2019s fellow NBA legend Michael Jordan also released a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/esteep\/status\/1800911175930229195\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> on Wednesday, saying West was \u201clike an older brother to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always wished I could have played against him as a competitor, but the more I came to know him, I wish I had been his teammate,\u201d Jordan said. \u201cI admired his basketball insights and he and I shared many similarities to how we approached the game. He will be forever missed! My condolences to his wife, Karen, and his sons. RIP, Logo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>West\u2019s death came just two weeks after NBA Hall-of-Fame forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nba-hall-of-famer-bill-walton-dead-at-71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bill Walton<\/a> died at the age of 71.
