After a week-long trial, Biden was convicted of violating an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/14\/awkward-hunter-bidens-defense-invokes-gun-rights-ruling-19-times-after-joe-called-it-unconstitutional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unconstitutional<\/a> gun law, but he didn\u2019t have to face the far more serious criminal allegations that are based on information revealed by his laptop (discovered by the New York Post in 2020). While Biden escaped prosecution on charges for crimes likely to implicate his president father, any trial of those crimes would have been propelled by the contents of the most embarrassing hard drive ever to go public.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1220201206\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5279ebb9fe3f00e06177736a50fc5984 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5279ebb9fe3f00e06177736a50fc5984\"><\/div>\n<p>Prosecutors in the Delaware gun case <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3028301\/hunter-biden-silver-laptop-shown-courtroom-gun-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">presented<\/a> jurors with messages and photos from the laptop after the computer was accepted by a federal judge as evidence. In fact, according to the Washington Examiner, an agent from the FBI confirmed the authenticity of the hard drive at the trial, \u201cas well as certain items of evidence from Biden\u2019s computer data and excerpts from a memoir he wrote about his addiction battles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/fbi-still-mum-laptop-gets-entered-evidence-hunter-biden-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused<\/a> to offer comment when asked by Fox News whether the agency had \u201cany regrets\u201d about rejecting the laptop\u2019s authenticity. The agency <em>itself<\/em>,<em> <\/em>however, peddled the lie that the laptop was an instrument of Kremlin interference by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/26\/confirmed-fbi-colluded-with-big-tech-to-prevent-voters-from-learning-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preemptively warning<\/a> social media companies to shut related stories down.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the 51 former intelligence officials who publicly promoted the 2020 Russia hoax, meanwhile, have only doubled down on the election-year misinformation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFox News Digital reached out to all 51 individuals who signed the heavily scrutinized October 2020 letter, published just before the 2020 presidential election, asking if they regretted signing it now that the laptop is being used by the prosecution arguing Hunter committed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scotus-limits-definition-of-violent-felon-in-armed-career-criminal-act\/\" title=\"SCOTUS limits definition of \u2018violent felon\u2019 in Armed Career Criminal Act\">federal gun crime<\/a>,\u201d the network <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ex-intel-officials-double-down-signing-patriotic-letter-against-hunter-biden-laptop-woefully-ignorant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. \u201cDozens,\u201d Fox reported, \u201care either declining to retract or doubling down despite the device being entered as evidence in his ongoing criminal trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-18969e914c889b8e2ca9475dfd88d0f4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-18969e914c889b8e2ca9475dfd88d0f4\"><\/div>\n<p>An attorney representing Ronald Marks, Marc Polymeropoulos, Douglas Wise, Paul Kolbe, John Sipher, Emile Nakhleh, and Gerald O\u2019Shea sent Fox News a statement on behalf of the signatories claiming the letter to Politico in 2020 was \u201cpatriotic.\u201d Former CIA Director Michael Hayden, on the other hand, \u201chung up the phone when contacted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hayden, who served under President George W. Bush and led the National Security Agency (NSA) during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dick-cheney-ignores-his-own-record-while-indicting-trump-as-worst-threat-to-american-democracy-ever\/\" title=\"Dick Cheney Ignores His Own Record While Indicting Trump As Worst Threat To American Democracy Ever\">worst intelligence failure<\/a> in U.S. history, 9\/11, is also on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsguardtech.com\/our-advisory-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advisory board<\/a> of the left-wing disinformation group NewsGuard. In 2022, Hayden said he was \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/21\/newsguard-adviser-michael-hayden-is-perfectly-fine-with-sharing-disinformation-to-protect-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">perfectly fine<\/a>\u201d with peddling misinformation to elect President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looked like disinformation,\u201d he told New York Magazine. \u201cIt would be nice if we didn\u2019t have to do anything or say anything, but the Russians were doing so much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hayden still signed the letter with more than 50 former intelligence officials discrediting the laptop as Russian disinformation despite an on-the-record statement rejecting such characterization from the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefdrlst.wpengine.com\/2020\/10\/19\/intelligence-director-john-ratcliffe-debunks-russian-disinformation-theories-on-hunter-biden-emails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">director of national intelligence<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9b4b95261b9f19057f98777edb17d0f8 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9b4b95261b9f19057f98777edb17d0f8\"><\/div>\n<p>Many of the former intelligence officials who sought to dismiss Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop are still held up as credible by outlets that similarly refused to give the computer the legitimate coverage the hard drive deserved in the 2020 election. Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper remains a CNN analyst. According to Fox News on Monday, Clapper said \u201cno\u201d when pressed on whether he regretted signing his name, and he also declined \u201cto publicly remove his name from the letter or concede that those signing onto it should have waited longer for more information to develop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>House Republicans are now <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/08\/jim-jordan-to-cia-how-many-hunter-biden-laptop-letter-signatories-were-on-the-cias-payroll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">probing<\/a> whether the CIA was behind the letter in 2020.
