The Attorney General has filed for an \u2064execution date\u2063 for Carey Dale Grayson, convicted of the \u20631994 murder of Vickie Deblieux. Grayson was one of four teenagers guilty\u2062 of the\u2062 brutal killing, \u200dbut two of\u200b his accomplices \u2062had their sentences revoked\u200b due to their age at the\u2064 time of the crime. Previous executions\u2062 using this method have raised controversy\u2062 due to observed convulsions in the executed individuals, opposing claims of it being a painless\u2063 method.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/alabama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alabama<\/a> is planning to conduct another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alabama-seeks-to-execute-prisoner-using-nitrogen-gas-asphyxiation\/\" title=\"Alabama plans to execute inmate using nitrogen gas asphyxiation.\">nitrogen gas execution<\/a> months after the state carried out the United States\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2817747\/alabama-to-carry-out-nations-first-execution-via-nitrogen-hypoxia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>first execution<\/a> via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alabama-very-likely-to-carry-out-untested-execution-method\/\" title=\"Alabama \u2018Very Likely\u2019 To Carry Out Untested Execution Method\">nitrogen hypoxia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The attorney general\u2019s office has requested the Alabama Supreme Court approve an execution date for Carey Dale Grayson, who was found guilty of Vickie Deblieux\u2019s murder in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>Grayson was one of four adolescents charged with torturing, murdering, and mutilating Deblieux. All were convicted and sentenced to death, but two of them, who were under 18 at the time, had their sentences overturned following the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Supreme Court<\/a>\u2019s 2005 ruling prohibiting the execution of offenders under 18 when committing crimes.<\/p>\n<p>If granted authorization, it would be the state\u2019s third execution via nitrogen gas.<\/p>\n<p>Last January, Kenneth Smith became the U.S.\u2019s first person to undergo a nitrogen gas execution after he was convicted for the 1988 murder-for-hire killing of Alabama native Elizabeth Sennett.\u00a0During his execution, Smith suffered convulsions that lasted over two minutes, prompting concerns from advocates who criticized it as contradicting the state\u2019s assurance of a quick and painless death.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court also scheduled a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/2989625\/alabama-court-clears-way-second-execution-via-nitrogen-gas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>second execution<\/a> for Alan Miller on Sept. 26, who was found guilty of killing three men in a workplace shooting in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is disappointing that the state wants to schedule a third <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/murderer-scheduled-to-be-executed-with-unconventional-method-triggers-death-penalty-debate\/\" title=\"Controversial execution method sparks death penalty debate.\">nitrogen hypoxia execution<\/a> before the question of whether the first one tortured Kenneth Smith has been resolved,\u201d John Palombi, an attorney with the Federal Defenders Program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/alabama-seeks-nitrogen-executions-concern-method-rcna156697\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>wrote<\/a> in an email.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Officials escort murder suspect Alan Eugene Miller away from the Pelham City Jail in Alabama, Aug. 5, 1999.
