Known for his critical late-game performances, earning him the nickname &#8220;Mr. Clutch,&#8221; West&#8217;s contribution to \u2063basketball is immense, including his recognition as the silhouette of the NBA \u2063logo. \u200bWest was inducted into \u2062the Basketball Hall of Fame as\u200d a player in 1980, as a member of the 1960 U.S. \u2063Olympic Team in 2010,\u2063 and is set\u2062 to be honored posthumously later this year as\u200c a\u2064 contributor. He will be enshrined for a third time later this year as a contributor.<\/p>\n<p>West was \u201cthe personification of basketball excellence and a friend to all who knew him,\u201d the Clippers said in announcing his death. West\u2019s wife, Karen, was by his side when he died, the Clippers said.<\/p>\n<p>He was a 14-time All-Star, a 12-time All-NBA selection, part of the 1972 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/uconns-dan-hurley-says-rejected-coaching-lebron-lakers-pursue-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lakers<\/a> team that won a championship, and an NBA Finals MVP as part of a losing team in 1969. He was also selected as part of the NBA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/legacy-on-the-line-for-aaron-rodgers-as-rematch-with-san-francisco-looms\/\" title=\"Legacy On The Line For Aaron Rodgers As Rematch With San Francisco Looms\">75th anniversary team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>West was general manager of eight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-nba-head-coach-leaves-race-baiting-reporter-speechless-dropping-10-word-bomb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBA<\/a> championship teams with the Los Angeles Lakers, helping build the \u201cShowtime\u201d dynasty.
