Responding to each rumor is a fool\u2019s game,\u201d the world\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.owgr.com\/playerprofile\/rory-mcilroy-10091\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No. 3 ranked golfer<\/a> told the U.K.<a href=\"https:\/\/amp.theguardian.com\/sport\/article\/2024\/jun\/11\/golf-us-open-rory-mcilroy-divorce-off\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Guardian<\/a> in an article published Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy made the surprise revelation just days before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pgatour.com\/tournaments\/2024\/u.s-open\/R2024026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Open<\/a>, which kicks off Thursday in Pinehurst, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Guardian, the divorce filing was dismissed at the behest of the parties involved.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet also noted that \u201cMcIlroy looked in [a] noticeably upbeat mood when he addressed the media at Pinehurst earlier in the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rory McIlroy: 2024 U.S. Open Press Conference\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7iZZUgnBIFM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Last month, the four-time major champion rocked the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/top-golfer-not-bitter-arrest-releases-powerful-statement-police\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">golf world<\/a> by filing for divorce, saying the marriage was \u201cirretrievably broken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the time, McIlroy asked for joint custody of the couple\u2019s 3-year-old-daughter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/40329998\/rory-mcilroy-calls-divorce-reconciled-wife-erica-stoll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will you watch the US Open?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>He also asked a judge to enforce a prenuptial agreement he and his wife had signed a month before their April 2017 wedding in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy, who has not won a major championship for almost 10 years, expressed optimism about ending the drought at this week\u2019s U.S. Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really proud of my body of work over the past 15 years and everything that I have achieved, whether it be season-long titles or individual tournaments or majors,\u201d he said at a news conference at Pinehurst on Tuesday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/rory-mcilroy-wife-erica-call-off-divorce-8661963\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a> magazine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously getting my hands on a fifth major has taken quite a while, but I\u2019m more confident than ever that I\u2019m right there, that I\u2019m as close as I\u2019ve ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the social media platform X, numerous fans expressed well wishes on the McIlroys\u2019 reconciliation.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Great News <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/McIlroyRory?\">@McIlroyRory<\/a> .
