But if you\u2019re a self-respecting human, the only response is, <em>No, thanks! I don\u2019t eat off the ground<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The news media have naturally teamed up with Democrat leaders to defend the Biden Justice Department\u2019s menial conviction, which is destined for an appeal and ultimately a negligible punishment, if anything. \u201cDemocrats openly embrace Hunter Biden guilty verdict,\u201d read an Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/11\/democrats-hunter-biden-guilty-gun-verdict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">headline<\/a> Tuesday. The story quoted several Democrat lawmakers repeating the mind-numbing <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/23\/hunter-biden-is-above-the-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cNo one is above the law\u201d<\/a> song.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1316841081\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c40fa8644a902ccf8796e919d92ad1b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c40fa8644a902ccf8796e919d92ad1b\"><\/div>\n<p>They did the same thing almost exactly a year ago after Hunter Biden struck a laughable <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/21\/hunter-biden-plea-deal-is-a-tragedy-about-a-troubled-life-kidding-its-about-the-trashy-bidens-and-the-corrupt-doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">plea deal<\/a> with the Justice Department that would have secured him no punishment and, more importantly, granted him immunity from future prosecution of crimes he hadn\u2019t even been charged with.<\/p>\n<p>These happened in June 2023.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ABC \u201cThe View\u2019s\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/20\/the-view-host-sunny-hostin-praises-hunter-biden-plea-agreement-no-one-is-above-the-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sunny Hostin<\/a>: \u201cIt shows no one is above the law, which is important, not even the president\u2019s son.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Obama 2012 deputy campaign manager <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/hunter-biden-trump-plea-deal-2024-president-ccfcf81acf1f073fe1a350589ba223a4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephanie Cutter<\/a>: \u201c[I]t shows that no one is above the law and what taking responsibility looks like.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/2023\/06\/20\/hunter-biden-plea-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Post<\/a>: \u201cThe sitting president\u2019s son being held accountable for underpaying his taxes illustrates that no one is above the law in the U.S. system.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Axios article this week microwaved the tired slogan. \u201cThe key phrase for Democrats when discussing the Hunter Biden verdict on Tuesday,\u201d read the article, \u201cwas \u2018nobody is above the law.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zzz\u2026<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7cc6ae3f55ec55877238e986c7e20d4b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7cc6ae3f55ec55877238e986c7e20d4b\"><\/div>\n<p><em>Don\u2019t you see? Hunter Biden was allowed to skate on his most severe crimes \u2014\u00a0illegal influence peddling, tax evasion, money laundering, conspiracy, and failure to register as a foreign agent. But he was slammed with some gun possession charges surely to fizzle out on appeal. So what do you say to that, Republicans? How do you call the Trump prosecutions politically motivated now?!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The truth is that the president retains the power to pardon his son, which he pretends he won\u2019t use, because he knows this sham almost certainly won\u2019t go that far (and if it does, he\u2019ll definitely use it). The only reason there was even the smallest of convictions is because a judge refused to be made a mockery of by accepting a plea deal that would have turned her into a joke in every corner of her profession.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times isn\u2019t even bothering to pretend that Hunter will be sentenced like similar convicts, who typically receive about a year in confinement. \u201c[J]udges frequently depart from the suggested guidelines when handing down a sentence,\u201d the paper<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/11\/us\/politics\/hunter-biden-jail-sentence.html?smid=url-share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> said<\/a>, \u201cand may reduce the time spent in prison in light of the particular circumstances unique to each case.\u201d \u201cParticular circumstances\u201d is code for \u201cthe president\u2019s drug addict son meriting political consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All of those trifling details aside, there is still no comparison to what happened to Hunter and what\u2019s happening to Trump. The former president has been ordered to effectively drain his personal bank account after he was convicted of repaying business loans with interest. Now he\u2019s under threat of being locked up just before he\u2019s formally declared the Republican presidential nominee.
