Hunter Biden faces up to 25 years in prison for his crimes and up to $750,000 in fines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, Hunter Biden was convicted of two counts of lying on a form submitted to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-again-refuses-to-halt-new-york-gun-restrictions\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Again Refuses to Halt New York Gun Restrictions\">federal firearms dealer<\/a> about his addiction, or use of crack cocaine, and possessing a firearm, while a user or addict,\u201d Weiss said at a press conference. \u201cThere have been two overarching themes emphasized by the prosecution during trial: this defendant\u2019s illegal choices and the rule of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, while there has been much testimony about the defendant\u2019s abuse of drugs and alcohol, ultimately, this case was not just about addiction \u2014 a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden\u2019s family,\u201d he continued. \u201cThis case was about the illegal choices [the] defendant made while in the throes of addiction, his choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun, and the choice to then possess that gun. It was these choices and the combination of guns and drugs that made his conduct dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecond, no one in this country is above the law,\u201d he added. \u201cEveryone must be accountable for their actions, even this defendant. However, Hunter Biden should be no more accountable than any other citizen convicted of this same conduct.
