MSNBC&#8217;s Andrew Weissmann noted that President Biden didn&#8217;t interfere in the \u200bcase, suggesting Biden respects the rule of law. Meanwhile, the verdict has\u200d been \u200dleveraged by some commentators to counteract accusations from Trump \u2062supporters that Joe Biden has weaponized the justice system against Trump. Hunter Biden is also set to face separate tax charges related to unpaid taxes amounting to over $1.4 million, which he has since repaid. Critics argue that the left uses such legal cases to support their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-lawmakers-target-mlb-antitrust-immunity-following-decision-to-remove-all-star-game-from-ga\/\" title=\"GOP lawmakers target MLB antitrust immunity following decision to remove All-Star Game from Ga.\">political arguments<\/a> rather than\u200b out of \u2064genuine respect for legal principles.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Left-wing talking heads spent Tuesday morning gloating that the justice system is working just fine after President Joe Biden\u2019s son was convicted on three felony charges. But it\u2019s only because they desperately want to convince the American public that convicting Hunter for the least damning allegations he could be charged with justifies their use of lawfare against former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter was found guilty for lying on application paperwork while addicted to drugs to obtain a firearm and unlawfully possessing said firearm. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-500652791\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eaa3499dda3552c7779b76eebc35ec96 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eaa3499dda3552c7779b76eebc35ec96\"><\/div>\n<p>MSNBC\u2019s legal analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tomselliott\/status\/1800552976194605298\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Andrew Weissmann<\/a> said the ruling proved President Biden was the \u201cembodiment of the rule of law\u201d because he \u201ccould have ordered, at any time, his Justice Department to get rid of this case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While President Biden may not have directly ordered his DOJ to \u201cget rid of this case,\u201d the DOJ slow-walked its investigation into Hunter, allowing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2446324\/merrick-garland-punts-on-hunter-bidens-alleged-lapsed-statute-of-limitations-to-david-weiss\/?utm_source=google&#038;utm_medium=cpc&#038;utm_campaign=WE_Pmax_Section-News&#038;gad_source=1&#038;gclid=CjwKCAjwvIWzBhAlEiwAHHWgvSbhSZ5Zm3v5auijDaAaeOZvieWYEu-NQr3oBdkGMBjMVWZHPkt1NBoCGhgQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statute of limitations to expire<\/a> on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/build-back-better-bill-supersizes-irs-auditing-by-78-billion\/\" title=\"Build Back Better Bill Supersizes IRS Auditing by  Billion\">alleged tax evasion<\/a> between 2014 and 2015, as IRS whistleblowers have alleged. During that time frame, Hunter was being paid as much as $83,000 per month to sit on the board of a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, where his primary contribution appeared to be the Biden \u201cbrand\u201d and access to his father, who was then-vice president. Hunter will face separate tax charges in September after failing to pay more than <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.cacd.907806\/gov.uscourts.cacd.907806.1.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$1.4 million in taxes<\/a> that have since been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/one-trial-down-one-go-hunter-biden-faces-trial-federal-tax-charges-next\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paid<\/a> back by his Hollywood patron Kevin Morris.<\/p>\n<p>Weissmann also said he is \u201cless interested in the particulars of the case\u201d and more interested that the conviction can be used to juxtapose Biden\u2019s response to the verdict and Trump\u2019s response to his sham trial\u2019s guilty verdict.<\/p>\n<p>NBC\u2019s chief political analyst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/nbcs-chuck-todd-calls-hunter-biden-guilty-verdict-a-really-good-day-for-the-american-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chuck Todd<\/a> also <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tomselliott\/status\/1800553841106067856\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">used<\/a> the verdict to claim the justice system is based on \u201cfairness\u201d before trying to smear Trump for questioning the verdict in his trial.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4ddb418f24306add260ad480ae17a74f fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4ddb418f24306add260ad480ae17a74f\"><\/div>\n<p>CNN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TimJGraham\/status\/1800561121348182400\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kate Bedingfield<\/a>, who formerly worked as the White House Communications Director under Biden, said the verdict \u201cundermines the argument that Trump\u2019s been making about Joe Biden weaponizing the justice system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But as these left-wing talking heads make clear with their comments, the usefulness of Hunter\u2019s conviction has little to do with the \u201crule of law\u201d and everything to do with bolstering the left\u2019s claims that the justice system is not being weaponized against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The left has hinged a November victory on the success of lawfare efforts against Trump. It\u2019s no surprise that they are pouncing on the younger Biden\u2019s trial as an opportunity to pretend the two convictions are in some way comparable.<\/p>\n<p>The leftist logic goes: If President Biden can say he respects the rule of law for a crime that is clearly articulated and has been around for decades, then Trump should also respect what happens when a prosecutor who ran on a \u201cget Trump\u201d agenda charges him under a novel legal theory in a case overseen by a Biden donor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d88535361b40554aa7a3fa6a2aa0ebc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6d88535361b40554aa7a3fa6a2aa0ebc\"><\/div>\n<p>Yet, if the \u201crule of law\u201d <em>actually <\/em>mattered to these pundits, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/31\/if-no-one-is-above-the-law-democrats-and-their-partisan-pawns-would-be-arraigned-not-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">there would be outrage<\/a> that Biden\u2019s Department of Justice \u201cdisregarded the victims who were sexually exploited by Hunter Biden\u201d after Hunter allegedly paid prostitutes \u201cand used such payments as tax expenses for one of his companies,\u201d as summarized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/06\/the-hunter-biden-trial-prosecutors-tried-not-to-bring-is-more-proof-our-justice-system-is-a-joke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Oversight Committee<\/a>. Or perhaps they would be furious that Hunter never registered as a foreign agent despite admitting to the committee that he <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/01\/hunter-biden-confesses-he-was-paid-by-china-exposing-one-of-his-dads-biggest-lies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">was being paid<\/a> by Chinese Communist Party-linked businesses. But <em>those<\/em> charges would be too far, because the goal isn\u2019t to <em>actually<\/em> have any accountability for Hunter \u2014 or his father, who has been implicated in the aforementioned alleged crimes. The goal is to justify the \u201cget-Trump\u201d lawfare.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, if the \u201crule of law\u201d mattered so much there would be charges for dozens of others, including Hillary Clinton, every illegal migrant, everyone involved in Benghazi, Democrats who flouted their own lockdown rules during the pandemic, the \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d rioters who caused more than $2 billion worth of damage to private and federal property, and everyone involved in Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s pedophile ring, as my colleague <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/17\/democrats-say-no-one-is-above-the-law-but-this-list-of-their-corrupt-allies-proves-otherwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jordan Boyd<\/a> points out.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c78c7466f62bf012ee8abef02f0eeb82 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c78c7466f62bf012ee8abef02f0eeb82\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Left-wing commentators celebrated Tuesday morning, claiming the justice system is intact after President Joe Biden&#8217;s son was convicted on three felony charges.
