So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.\u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/POTUS?\">@POTUS<\/a>\u2069 statement on verdict in Hunter Biden\u2019s trial. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oBT9yoLhaf\">pic.twitter.com\/oBT9yoLhaf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jeff Mason (@jeffmason1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jeffmason1\/status\/1800558446560850418?\">June 11, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Biden had said last week that he would not pardon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/juror-reveals-damning-text-thread-led-hunter-bidens-conviction-training-get-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his son<\/a> if Hunter were convicted, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/biden-support-hunter-after-conviction\/story?id=111020929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, jurors in Delaware <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/juror-reveals-damning-text-thread-led-hunter-bidens-conviction-training-get-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found him guilty<\/a> of lying to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-rolling-out-new-executive-order-on-guns-in-california\/\" title=\"Biden rolling out new executive order on guns in California\">federally licensed gun dealer<\/a> when purchasing a gun in 2018, making a false claim on the application by saying he was not a drug user and illegally having the gun for 11 days.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden released a post-verdict statement praising his family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am more grateful today for the love and support I experienced this last week from Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome,\u201d he said, referring to his wife, Melissa Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time,\u201d the president\u2019s son said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Statements from Hunter Biden and his defense attorney. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OMPEUbCM47\">pic.twitter.com\/OMPEUbCM47<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CSPAN (@cspan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cspan\/status\/1800566901879566720?\">June 11, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/hunter-biden-trial-06-11-24\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported that after the conviction, the president revised his schedule to travel to Wilmington, Delaware, presumably to be with Hunter.<\/p>\n<p>An editorial in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/06\/11\/opinion\/hunter-biden-is-guilty-but-dont-expect-his-arrogance-to-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a> said Hunter Biden\u2019s decision to plead not guilty to the charges against him was a sign of his \u201centitled arrogance, fully supported by the first family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut he plainly figured he might get off \u2014 that at least one juror in Biden-loving Delaware would be intimidated by the power appearance of first lady Jill Biden and the rest of the clan in the courtroom, or taken in by his heartbreaking story,\u201d the editorial said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNor will this be the end of his chutzpah: Once sentenced (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-press-biden-doj-on-soft-sentence-for-floyd-arsonist\/\" title=\"House Republicans Press Biden DOJ on Soft Sentence for Floyd Arsonist\">federal sentencing guidelines suggest<\/a> a good chance he won\u2019t get prison time), he\u2019ll likely appeal \u2014 probably by arguing that this law, passed with help from then-Sen. Joe Biden, violates the Second Amendment,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>Although much of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-jury-announces-verdict-hunter-biden-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden family\u2019s reaction<\/a> to the verdict focused on Hunter\u2019s drug addiction, special counsel David Weiss said that was not an issue in the case, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/hunter-biden-trial-06-11-24\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately this case was not just about addiction, a disease that haunts families across the United States, including Hunter Biden\u2019s family. This case was about the illegal choices the defendant made while in the throes of addiction,\u201d Weiss said.<\/p>\n<p data-uri=\"archive.cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-616a23905068b4c5f575b0aa9edd6f64@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\u201cHis choice to lie on a government form when he bought a gun. And the choice to then possess that gun.
