The judge declared that gender identity is legitimate and\u2062 the standard medical care includes puberty blockers and\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/very-complicated-dr-rachel-levine-dodges-sen-pauls-issue-about-sex-adjustments-for-children\/\" title=\"\u2018Very Complicated\u2019: Dr. Rachel Levine Dodges Sen. Paul\u2019s Issue About Sex Adjustments For Children\">cross-sex hormones<\/a>. This \u200druling came\u200d after Florida enacted\u200c a ban on these treatments in May of the previous year. Judge Hinkle emphasized\u2063 that Florida\u200c has the\u200b right to regulate\u200c but cannot categorically deny\u200d safe and effective medical treatments\u200b to transgender individuals, which are \u2064commonly allowed for\u200c others if the intended purpose \u2064is different.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A federal judge on Tuesday struck down major parts of Florida\u2019s ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-candidate-dr-oz-had-repeatedly-platformed-transgender-activists-on-tv-show\/\" title=\"GOP Candidate Dr. Oz Had Repeatedly Platformed Transgender Activists on TV Show\">transgender medical interventions<\/a> for children.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Robert Hinkle in Tallahassee ruled that \u201cgender identity is real\u201d and that a \u201cwidely accepted standard of care\u201d includes puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.<\/p>\n<p>In May of last year, Florida banned these hormonal transgender medical treatments for children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state of Florida can regulate as needed but cannot flatly deny transgender individuals safe and effective medical treatment \u2014 treatment with medications routinely provided to others with the state\u2019s full approval so long as the purpose is not to support the patient\u2019s transgender identity,\u201d Hinkle wrote in his order.<\/p>\n<p>Hinkle also nixed two parts of the ban applying to adults. The law required adults to see a doctor in person before starting cross-sex hormones and stated that hormone treatments for adults \u201cmay not be prescribed, administered, or performed except by a physician.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three families along with LGBT groups sued over Florida\u2019s ban, claiming the law denied the parents their right to make medical decisions for their trans-identifying children.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Ron DeSantis\u2019 (R) office plans to appeal the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe disagree with the court\u2019s erroneous rulings on the law, on the facts, and on the science,\u201d Julia Friedland, the governor\u2019s deputy press secretary, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/11\/us\/florida-transgender-law.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we\u2019ve seen here in Florida, the United Kingdom, and across Europe, there is no quality evidence to support the chemical and physical mutilation of children.
