The claim suggested that a NATO attack was fooled \u2062by a decoy at Akhtubinsk Air Base, some 366 miles from the frontline. However, this accusation has been proven \u2063false.<\/p>\n<p>The controversial image was initially shared by Brady Africk from the American Enterprise \u2064Institute \u200don X (formerly Twitter), dated June 7. Africk \u200bhimself\u2062 clarified that his\u2062 image \u200ddid not show any decoy being struck and that his post did not intend \u2063to suggest \u200dUkraine hit a Russian decoy.<\/p>\n<p>Further\u200c investigation confirmed that Ukraine had\u2063 indeed targeted an Su-57, Russia&#8217;s most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-holds-military-drills-near-taiwan-as-biden-struggles-with-afghanistan-withdrawal\/\" title=\"China Holds Military Drills Near Taiwan as Biden Struggles With Afghanistan Withdrawal\">advanced fighter jet<\/a>, which resulted in\u2062 damage. This \u2064strike took place deep \u2064within \u2062Russian territory and was a significant incident given the advanced nature of the \u2062aircraft and the depth \u2062of penetration by Ukrainian drones. The person who obtained the image also refuted the claim.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ukraine claimed to have hit a Russian Su-57 for the first time with drones, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/10\/ukraine-strike-russian-fighter-jet-su57\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Axios<\/a>. The Su-57 is Russia\u2019s most advanced fighter jet, and the attack took place 366 miles behind the frontlines, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<p>Social media users are claiming that Ukraine hit a Su-57 decoy and are sharing a satellite image. One user wrote, \u201cOH NO NO, NATO attacked a decoy Su-57. It was just a ground painting of one. HAHAHAHA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This claim is false.\u00a0The image was shared to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bradyafr\/status\/1799731913600458978\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">X<\/a> by Brady Africk, a media relations associate at the American Enterprise Institute, and the image is dated June 7, while the attack was June 8. The image I shared is from June 7th and the attack took place on June 8th. The image I shared only shows that there are decoys located at the air base,\u201d Africk said.<\/p>\n<p>GUR shared a <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/DIUkraine\/3953\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">satellite image<\/a> that showed damage to the runway near a parked Su-57. The image was also posted to X by OSINTtechnical. The Su-57 was damaged by shrapnel; it is now being determined whether it can be restored or not.
