Such is the case following elections in Europe this past weekend when voters in several European Union (EU) member states rejected leftists\u2019 globalist agenda by electing right-wing populist candidates to the continental body.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-226493342\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5df964057d15853536e99b00170df7f4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5df964057d15853536e99b00170df7f4\"><\/div>\n<p>In France, Marine Le Pen\u2019s National Rally party trounced French President Emmanuel Macron\u2019s liberal Renaissance party. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/france-enters-election-mode-after-far-right-win-european-parliament-vote-2024-06-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reuters<\/a>, National Rally won 31.4 percent of the vote, which is more than double the 14.6 percent Renaissance received. Le Pen, who previously ran against Macron in France\u2019s 2017 and 2022 presidential elections, espoused hopes that the results will \u201cput an end to this painful epoch of globalism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Macron announced in the aftermath of his party\u2019s defeat that he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2024\/06\/09\/macron-trounced-by-le-pens-populists-at-europarl-elections-immediately-dissolves-parliament-for-snap-national-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calling<\/a> for snap elections for the nation\u2019s legislative National Assembly, which will reportedly occur on June 30 and July 7. The move is seen as a <a href=\"https:\/\/policysphere.com\/2024\/06\/10\/analysis-what-just-happened-in-france-and-what-it-means\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">major gamble<\/a> that could affect the French right\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/yes-mitch-mcconnell-would-rather-lose-the-senate-than-his-leadership-status\/\" title=\"Yes, Mitch McConnell Would Rather Lose The Senate Than His Leadership Status\">future electoral prospects<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But Macron is hardly the only globalist to suffer defeat at the ballot box this past weekend. In Germany, left-wing Chancellor <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/12\/02\/germany-is-medically-segregating-the-unvaccinated-from-public-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Olaf Scholz<\/a>\u2018s Social Democrats finished in an abysmal third place behind several right-wing parties. Preliminary results reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2024\/06\/10\/german-govt-refuses-snap-election-despite-embarrassing-defeat-to-populist-afd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breitbart News<\/a> show the center-right alliance of the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union in Bavaria finishing first and the right-populist Alternative for Germany party coming in second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe election was also a victory for the populist Alternative for Germany party, which beat out the governing SPD to become the second-largest German party in the EU Parliament, picking up 15.9 per cent of the vote, which will equate to around 15 seats, compared to 14 for Scholz\u2019 party,\u201d Breitbart reported. \u201cThe result for the AfD was the best ever for the party in an EU election since its formation in 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b7972df665fb18fc03981e63dcf95841 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-b7972df665fb18fc03981e63dcf95841\"><\/div>\n<p>Right<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/populist-and-national-conservative-leaders-meet-in-poland-to-discuss-future-of-eu\/\" title=\"Populist and National Conservative Leaders Meet in Poland to Discuss Future of EU\">-wing populist parties<\/a> also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/world\/europe-map-shows-countries-where-far-right-is-making-gains\/ar-BB1nWOFE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">experienced<\/a> electoral gains in Italy, Austria, and Belgium. Belgian leftists\u2019 defeat prompted Prime Minister Alexander De Croo to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2024\/06\/09\/belgiums-anti-trump-prime-minister-resigns-after-suffering-right-wing-election-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">resign<\/a> from office.<\/p>\n<p>De Croo previously voiced opposition to former President Trump\u2019s reelection, saying earlier this year: \u201cIf 2024 brings us \u2018America First\u2019 again, it will be more than ever \u2018Europe on its own.\u2019\u201d He also criticized the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s 2022 decision overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Citizens Voting Is a Threat to What?<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s natural to be upset when your preferred candidate or political party doesn\u2019t win. But what\u2019s most revealing about the left\u2019s visceral reaction to Europe\u2019s election results is how much disdain they have for allowing voters who disagree with their insane policies to have a say in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-anyone-more-annoying-or-treacherous-than-barack-obama\/\" title=\"Is Anyone More Annoying or Treacherous than Barack Obama?\">democratic process<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While responding to the European left\u2019s election losses, Rapha\u00ebl Glucksmann, France\u2019s lead Socialist candidate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/eu-european-election-results-2024-emmanuel-macron-dissolve-parliament-france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>: \u201cEverywhere in Europe, we are witnessing a wave that is shaking our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0b803888b3ad879af3a3f47ba281c3e0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0b803888b3ad879af3a3f47ba281c3e0\"><\/div>\n<p>Meanwhile, Columbia University Professor Sheri Berman reacted to the results by <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.md\/VQicV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">penning<\/a> a column for Project Syndicate titled, \u201cHow Serious Is Europe\u2019s Anti-Democratic Threat?\u201d in which she analyzed whether the rise of right-wing populist parties in Europe represents a \u201cthreat\u201d to \u201cdemocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not content to keep the focus on Europe, Berman waded into U.S. politics, claiming the Republican Party \u201chas gone in the opposite direction from most of its Western European counterparts, transforming itself from a conservative party into a radical far-right one.\u201d She also regurgitated Democrats\u2019 phony talking point that \u201cAmerica\u2019s democracy \u2026 will suffer\u201d if Trump wins this November and forewarned that it would \u201cencourage extremists in Europe and elsewhere to push the limits further and undermine the international alliances and institutions upon which European and global stability have long depended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe US makes clear that extremism can transform a party quickly and degrade democracy even in places where its enduring stability has long been taken for granted,\u201d Berman wrote. \u201cGrowing support for right-wing populists in Western Europe may not be an existential crisis for democracy currently, but it is a warning that must be taken seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Democracy for Me, But Not for Thee<\/h2>\n<p>The left\u2019s absurd reactions to electoral defeat aren\u2019t the least bit surprising.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their claims to the contrary, leftists don\u2019t believe in \u201cdemocracy\u201d unless they can bend it to further their political goals. For them, voting is a positive only if it\u2019s dominated by fellow leftists.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s why leftists dishonestly paint themselves as champions of \u201cdemocracy.\u201d By wrapping themselves in this term, they can cast their opponents as a danger to the very foundations of society.<\/p>\n<p>To see this strategy in action, look no further than Democrats\u2019 attempts to imprison Trump and remove him from the ballot ahead of the 2024 election. Trump represents a risk to their hold on power. So casting him as a \u201cthreat to democracy\u201d allows Democrats to feign legitimacy in their weaponization of the legal system against him and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/04\/merrick-garland-shouldnt-be-praised-he-should-be-impeached\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conservative voters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whether the results from this weekend\u2019s elections produce a more conservative Europe remain to be seen.
