The article conveys a broader \u2062narrative that the mainstream media might \u200bbe underrepresenting the potential electoral impacts of changing demographics and voter trends for\u2064 the 2024 presidential race.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/michael-schwarz\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/michael-schwarz\/%20\"><span>Michael Schwarz<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 10, 2024 at 4:01pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Non-white voters have abandoned President Joe Biden in such large numbers that even the establishment media has begun to notice.<\/p>\n<p>Monday morning on \u201cCNN News Central\u201d with co-anchor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/profiles\/john-berman-profile\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Berman<\/a>, CNN Senior Political Data Reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/profiles\/harry-enten#:~:text=to%20make%20history.-,About,specializes%20in%20data%2Ddriven%20journalism.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harry Enten<\/a> reacted to polling data from 2020 and 2024 that showed a 20-point swing in Hispanic voters\u2019 support away from Biden and toward former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook at this tremendous shift,\u201d Enten said, making emphatic side-to-side movements with his hands. \u201cOh, my goodness gracious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The data on the screen behind Enten showed the reason for his animated astonishment.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage in the 2020 presidential campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-ignores-pro-hamas-protesters-monument-vandalism-trumps-2020-exec-order-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a> held a 27-point lead over Trump among Hispanic voters, 59 percent to 32 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Four years later, Biden\u2019s lead in that demographic has shrunk to only seven points, 51-44.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s no wonder that Donald Trump thinks he can play for the Hispanic vote,\u201d Enten said.<\/p>\n<p>Berman then asked how these remarkable polling numbers have shaped the race in projected swing states.<\/p>\n<p>Enten replied that Hispanics make up 19 percent of likely voters in Nevada and 17 percent in Arizona. Unsurprisingly, averages of recent polls showed Trump leading Biden by 7 points in Nevada and 5 points in Arizona.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is the Hispanic voters&#8217; shift surprising?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In fact, given the trend Enten described, even those estimates might paint too rosy a picture for Biden.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2024\/01\/10\/key-facts-about-hispanic-eligible-voters-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pew Research<\/a>, Latino voters comprise 25 percent of the eligible electorate in Arizona and 22 percent in Nevada. CNN used \u201clikely\u201d rather than \u201celigible\u201d voters \u2014 a reasonable metric but one that might actually understate Trump\u2019s opportunity for gains.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, Enten did not sugarcoat the bad news for Biden, which also included a 7-point <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/europes-establishment-leftists-suffer-crushing-defeat-hands-right-incredible-news-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> lead in Georgia, where a growing number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/desperate-biden-says-trump-wouldnt-pardon-black-americans-insane-jan-6-rant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">black voters<\/a> have also abandoned the president\u2019s 2020 coalition.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Biden polled much better with the older and whiter population of the Great Lakes region. After all, Hispanics have as much reason to dislike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-killing-economy-inflation-remains-high-consumer-spending-weakens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inflation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-official-hints-american-support-helping-ukraine-attack-russia-shocking-policy-shift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">foreign wars<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-wants-trump-disqualified-conviction-fails-save-bidens-election-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">domestic tyranny<\/a> and \u2014 yes \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-border-patrol-given-updated-presidential-proclamation-guidance-door-now-wide-open-migrants-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">illegal immigration<\/a> as all other Americans. Since they prefer prosperity, peace, freedom and a humane, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mayorkas-sworn-in-as-secretary-of-homeland-security-despite-heavy-gop-opposition\/\" title=\"Mayorkas Sworn In As Secretary Of Homeland Security Despite Heavy GOP Opposition\">legal immigration system<\/a>, they obviously cannot support Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, as summer approaches, the entire swing-state storyline has grown somewhat frustrating.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Enten noted that Trump\u2019s gains with Hispanic voters have translated to polling leads in heavily-Hispanic Nevada and Arizona. He then noted a similar situation in Georgia and contrasted it with the presumptive Great Lakes swing states.<\/p>\n<p>But what about New Mexico? According to Pew, Latinos comprise a whopping 45 percent of that state\u2019s electorate. How has Trump\u2019s momentum translated there?<\/p>\n<p>Alas, no one seems to care. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/new-mexico\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClear Polling<\/a>, no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/polling-industry-faces-reckoning-after-failing-miserably-in-2020-presidential-election\/\" title=\"Polling industry faces reckoning after failing miserably in 2020 presidential election\">major polling outlet<\/a> has surveyed voters in that state since August. <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/president-general\/2024\/new-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FiveThirtyEight<\/a> showed a similar lack of polling out of New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/elections\/2020\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020 presidential election<\/a>, Biden won New Mexico by nearly 11 points. But Biden also won Minnesota and New Hampshire by 7 points each. And recent polling has those states trending toward the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trumps-good-news-deep-blue-new-england-state-creates-9-swing-states-now-play-polls-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">toss-up category<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Trump has generated significant momentum in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-conviction-deals-fatal-blow-biden-makes-blue-states-look-like-swing-states-new-data-arrives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia<\/a>, New Jersey and even New York \u2014 states that Biden won in 2020 by margins of 10, 16 and 23 points, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, two recent polls, one by <a href=\"https:\/\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Fox_June-1-4-2024_VIRGINIA_Topline_June-6-Release.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> and another by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roanoke.edu\/news\/rc_poll_politics_may_2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roanoke College<\/a>, showed Trump and Biden tied in Virginia. With independent candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rfk-jr-sends-democrats-warning-trump-verdict-conviction-going-backfire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a>, independent candidate Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein in the mix, the latest Emerson College polls showed Biden leading by only 7 points in <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/new-jersey-2024-poll-majority-of-democrats-support-kim-for-u-s-senate-nomination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New Jersey<\/a> and 7 points in <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/new-york-2024-poll-biden-48-trump-41\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, with Hispanic voters moving toward Trump in such large numbers, the time has come for the establishment media to expand its focus beyond the six or seven presumptive swing states and give Americans an accurate account of the changing electorate.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
