Originally hailed as a financial boon, the $9.5 billion Middle-Class Tax Refund designed\u200d to provide post-pandemic relief has been \u200ccriticized \u200bfor its poor execution, with about 624,000\u2062 Californians\u2064 still unable to access allotted \u200dfunds. With \u200bCalifornia transitioning from \u2063a $100 billion surplus in 2022 to a $45 billion deficit, Newsom&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-leaders-to-meet-with-trump-on-agenda\/\" title=\"GOP Leaders to Meet With Trump on Agenda\">recent budget proposal<\/a>, which includes significant cuts\u200b such as a $15.2 billion\u2062 reduction in \u200cstate spending, has only added to the backlash. They said the state\u2019s payment plan, which offered recipients an option to sign up for direct deposit into their bank accounts, wasn\u2019t a refund but merely came from the Golden State\u2019s one-time budget surplus. Two years later, California faces a $45 billion budget deficit. According to the PPIC, 433,000 people left California between July 2020 and July 2023. <\/p>\n<p>As economic prospects for the middle class have declined, California\u2019s homeless population has skyrocketed.
