She also admitted that some comedic content might not age well over time. Louis-Dreyfus emphasized that the complexities of political \u200ccorrectness\u200d and societal changes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-debate-their-ability-to-win-the-general-election-especially-with-trump\/\" title=\"Republicans question their chances of winning the general election, particularly with Trump.\">play significant roles<\/a> in \u200bshaping contemporary comedy, beyond merely attributing it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-hunter-biden-indicted-on-felony-charges\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden indicted for felony charges.\">political\u200d affiliations<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 63, slammed Jerry Seinfeld during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/08\/magazine\/julia-louis-dreyfus-interview.html\">interview<\/a> with The New York Times over the weekend after Seinfeld noted that the political Left has killed television comedies.<\/p>\n<p>Dreyfus claimed that the show the two starred in, \u201cSeinfeld,\u201d could \u201cprobably not\u201d be made today because \u201cit\u2019s hard to get anything different recognized\u201d and \u201ceveryone\u2019s sort of running scared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the remarks Seinfeld made about political correctness killing comedy, Dreyfus claimed that a lot of comedy \u201cbits and pieces \u2026 don\u2019t age well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dreyfus, a staunch Democrat activist, said that she thinks having \u201can antenna about sensitivities is not a bad thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I hear people starting to complain about political correctness \u2014 and I understand why people might push back on it \u2014 but to me that\u2019s a red flag, because it sometimes means something else,\u201d she claimed. \u201cI believe being aware of certain sensitivities is not a bad thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy feeling about all of it is that political correctness, insofar as it equates to tolerance, is obviously fantastic,\u201d she later added. \u201cAnd of course I reserve the right to boo anyone who says anything that offends me, while also respecting their right to free speech, right?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seinfeld <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/jerry-seinfeld-sounds-off-the-extreme-left-and-p-c-crap-has-killed-television-comedy\">said<\/a> in an interview in late April that the American people \u201cneed\u201d to be able to come home from work and have comedy on television.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey need it so badly and they don\u2019t get it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, \u201cOh, \u2018Cheers\u2019 is on. Oh, \u2018M*A*S*H\u2019 is on. Oh, \u2018Mary Tyler Moore\u2019 is on. \u2018All in the Family\u2019 is on.\u201d You just expected, there\u2019ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, guess what \u2014 where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people,\u201d he continued. \u201cNow they\u2019re going to see stand up comics because we are not policed by anyone. The audience polices us. We know when we\u2019re off track.
